  • Anybody got any current use cases for such power?

Last time I checked there really isn't anything using 240W yet and it's why I say "future proof". The below list is accurate as of 5 months ago.

      • Framework 16 (180W)
      • Dell Precision 5680/5690 (165W)
      • Apple Macbook Pro 16 M1/M2/M3 (140W)
      • Lenovo Legion 9/9i Series (140W, all models since 2023)
      • Lenovo Legion 7/7i Series (135W-140W, all models since 2022)
      • Lenovo Legion 5/5i Series (135W-140W, all models since 2022)
      • Lenovo LOQ 16 Series (140W, all models since 2023)
      • Lenovo LOQ 15 Series (140W, all models since 2023)
      • MSI Prestige 16 AI (140W)
      • MSI Prestige 14 AI (140W)
      • Dell Precision 5480/5490 (130W)
      • Dell XPS 17 9730 (130W)
      • Dell XPS 16 9640 (130W)
      • Dell XPS 15 9530 (130W)

white showing $16 for me now

These are good. I bought two few months ago and like them.

Many thanks OP. I wage a constant war against my children stealing my cables. I have purchased 4. That should keep me safe for about 4 weeks!

  • Thanks OP!

  • Giving this a go. The older 100W cables (other brand) with emark chips seem to go crazy when I use them with a 9V 5A charger. We'll see if this supports it.

  • Any recommendations for a 240W USB 3.1/4.0 TB4 2m 1 or 2-pack at great prices?

  • I bought a pack of two and one of the cable was dead after a month of casual use during the night. The return is good tho.

How safe are these for 240W?

    • -1

Depends if you have something capable of it.

      • So you're saying if something is capable of drawing 240W this cable would fail and be a fire hazard?

        • No one said anything close to that. There's nothing out there that supports 240W PD fast charging so it can't be tested to it's full capacity.

          • +3

            @Clear: Clearly he wasn't LISENing

          • -3

            @Clear:

Q: How safe are these for 240W?
A: Depends if you have something capable of it.

So that's saying if you have something that's capable of 240W it changes the outcome over whether or not it's safe.

Perhaps you'd like me to dig out the dictionary definition of "depends"?

No one said anything close to that.

You might want to try communicating clearly. But instead of answering you decided to troll as if it's my fault you can't choose your words.

I was going to ask if it could handle the high Watt consuming devices that are out there even if they're not 240W. But it doesn't matter. After your last answer the only sane thing to do is disregard anything you say.

            • @syousef: If there's nothing capable of 240W charging (as I specified above before your comment) then how do we know if it'll be safe at 240W?

Perhaps if we have a USB-C spec tester that is capable of 240W we could see if it properly supports the protocol at the correct voltages. If they exist yet of course.

              • @Clear: Well if it's failing on something at 150W or lower, it's hardly going to work at 240W now is it? THAT is one way you might know.

                • @syousef: We got there in the end. Until next time.

  • Can anyone recommend good usb-a to usb-c cable. Bought some before, but it doest have fast charging capability.

    • +1

What device are you looking to charge? USB A to C only goes so far.

      • Mobile devices

        • +1

A USB A to USB C cable isn't capable of Power Delivery fast charging or even a lot of fast charging protocols in general.. Hence why I ask.

          • @Clear: Yea i agree…its just i need for Android Auto and so called "Charging Rapidly" in my Pixel.

            • @signups: Pretty sure I have seen 30W Usb A to C high power cables, but can't remember brand or store.

Sorry I can't help you more.
