shipping is about $40 for me which doesn't seem too bad

they have it on their website for $1195 but it's on backorder
Nice!
Yamaha True X Soundbar with rear speakers that can double up as portable bluetooth speakers can now be found for below $1K, much lower than initial release pricing. An alternative soundbar system when you do not want to run power cables to your rear speakers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Co9n2kOnnUI
Phillips had some great soundbars like that back in the day too. Philips Fidelio E5 was such a cool premise
Thanks. It's so good to have something else to compare to the ubiquitous Samsung soundbars. Only problem is you can't demo them in your house and see which one you prefer. I'm considering Samsung, Klipsch, JBL and now Yamaha thanks to you. Like the JBL the rear speakers are wireless. The Sony Bravia Quad is a little out of my price range, and to be fair not a soundbar.
Nice ordered one for $1109
How did you get it for $1109? What code did you use? Ta
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/285828747665 and use code SEPSNS

@DealHunterDownUnder: Ordered one on 25th September and nothing until today, even the tracking number doesn't work.

Anyone else get a delivery date for Wed 6th Nov 2024?
Arrived on the 6th Nov pretty big box too gonna set it up on Sunday.
This or the Q930D for $350 less?
This
I bought mine with my LG OLED tv, I thought the tv would be the star attraction - nope, this sound bar (with rears) is amazing. Movies are so much more immersive when you are inside the soundstage.
Agreed. I have never been a surround guy, but recently got the Q990D with an LG G4 and it is fantastic.
I have a Q930C (I think the D series has HDMI 2.1 but is identical otherwise) and I'm very happy with it - felt it wasn't worth getting the 990 because I have a small living room.
Anyone checked the prices in EPP
I see $1,352.85 (TGG commercial better at $1270)
I haven't, but used in the past and have never seen the 990 series at a competitive price.
To give an idea on how impressive the surrounds are on this, watching Channel 9s 5.1 NRL every week, my cats jump up a few times each night wondering where the whistles and crowd chatter is coming from.
Cam Shand did a similar video about Atmos with his dogs. Was interesting.
This is just my experience (and when it works, it's great) but the sub drops out infrequently which can be annoying.
Have you checked for firmware updates?
Yeah firmware updates havent stopped it but hopefully will.
Absolutely love mine. Glad to get space back in lounge
Bought 2 at jb 2 weeks ago for 1044 each brilliant soundbar
Any tips on what stands to use for rear speakers
How did you get at that price? Buy with a TV or something?
Brother in law works for jb was staff prices
these are solid - https://www.amazon.com.au/Mounting-Dream-Adjustable-Satellit…
Thx for the reply
I made the mistake of buying cheap eBay stands, useless. Those rears are quite heavy. Have some solid pillar style ones now.
Is this the best soundbar option (in this config or similar) for around that $1-1.2K?
I will be looking to purchase one of these in the next 3 months, other than the unforeseen, am I missing anything by pulling the trigger on this now?
Thanks OzB!
Yes
Any experience from someone using the Q990D with a Sony Bravia 2023 model, esp X90J? TIA.
As long as you have earc you will be fine.
I use it with 85L series and no problems whatsoever, so 2023 will be perfectly fine.
Got one if these a few weeks back. Solid. Solid. Unit.
Would it be cheaper during Black Friday?
Anyone tried price matching with JB hi-fi?
What's needed to get the Atmos? I only have an old Chromecast and an Aldi dumb TV. Assume I need to upgrade casting system. Any suggestions on what to get?
Apple TV, NVIDIA Shield, something like a new Chromecast is cheapest.
Considering getting this over the current system (https://store.sony.com.au/archived-minisystem/HTM7.html), too many wires and it often cuts out. Would it be worth it?
Ha ha, This will blow it away, no brainer, get it.
I have a 9.4 muteki that has been in storage for a long while. The thing pumps out insane sound though when it is set up. Have sound bars really come so far that they can "blow away" a giant muteki system??
In what aspects will it blow the muteki system away? just immersion? or?
656W vs 2095W system, and the 656 blows it away? I feel like an old confused man.
Is it wise to get this and use the rear speakers as front? Living area is open space so having rear speakers is a little in the way.
That would be so odd surely. You don't have to use the rears. I used just the soundbar and sub of my system for a while due to space
You can. There is a setting on the app to convert the rears to front
Would this still sound decent with the additional 2 as fronts?
My wife is not a fan of the rear speakers being there from an aesthetical aspect and to be fair I already have a games room with 2 TVs and a big sound system so I don't have a lot of leverage here - it's her lounge room but I still want good sound for movies, since this is where we will watch them.
She'd be happy with the TV speakers haha!!
Itll work, just wont get that immersive feeling when you have the rears properly setup which in that case might be worth just looking at the q800d if you want to save a couple hundred bucks.
it's good for music
These speakers are great for 'Atmos bubble '. Placing them front won't be effective.
Any suggestions for a soundbar + sub only? Would one of the other Samsung models be better such as Q800D - no HDMI 2.1 with that model however.
Cheaper at Appliances Online $1,183 with free delivery. They dropped their price in the last 24 hrs.

spoke to chat on back order 3 weeks. also grab another $30 off with a referral
anyone got recommendations for stands for the satellite speakers?
These have support for speakers unlike other models. Very solid and sturdy.
I have the same stand and it's great. I also needed longer cards and got these
https://amzn.asia/d/dTKwYSJare they good on carpet? i.e. the base is heavy or spread well so that they dont easily fall over.
ill get it in 2 years when its on clearance, thanks
I bought the previous model 990C, this time last year. Got small price beat at JB on Appliances Online.
Amazing sound system for the price. Dont let the AV nerds get you, that you need a separate reciever and so on. The simplicity and limited wiring is great for many.
$1148 with Coupon Code SNSM11 From eBay
Have the older Q950A, its brilliant. One of the best purchases I've made. Movies like Dune etc sound insanely good to my ears. Even my brother who has a big expensive custom speaker and amp setup was impressed.
Hi These all seem to be expired.
Does anyone have any new codes or links for me? :)
AO at Ebay -1108 delivered with SEPSNS code
