Depends. If you like fighting monster variety yes. There are a lot of monsters and art styles to play with here. It's made as a celebration monster hunter game than a mainline.
If you favour QoL, maybe not. A lot of QoL is gone which to some can be a deal breaker for some people. Like, you need nets and pickaxe that can break to collect bugs and ores.
You cannot access your items box after you set out on a quest.
You need to paintball monsters or you'll need to memorise their areas.
That's a great summary. The quality of life improvements in World and Rise are indeed substantial compared to MHGU, making the newer games feel modern and refined.
Just adding some thoughts on MHGU's annoyances for me:
I reckon MHGU is worth getting if you're a big fan of the MH series, but you should expect some janky, outdated mechanics.
