Nah I’d rather not feed this to my dog.

    • What do you recommend for a senior mid sized dog (Cav)?

    • Yes, you get what you pay for.

    • That seems to be repeating the same words over and over, with the ultimate point seeming to just be that if they have a rash/bad coat it might be related to something that they're eating, which could be true of anything. I've been buying this for a dog for years who is well into senior territory and still running around keeping up with 1-3 year old dogs when playing with them, so it seems fine so long as your dog doesn't have a rash or something.

The guy that runs that site does a good job running through all the Australian options but with more research and how they promote grain-free dog foods but is clearly linked with Dilated cardiomyopathy, I find it hard to trust that site completely.

Generally the best advice is to find a dog food that follows WSAVA guidelines but getting something that's bang for buck is hard with so much misinformation lying around. Mainly they say Purina Pro Plan and Purina One, Hills Science Diet and Royal Canine are brands that have been know to follow the WSAVA guidelines. HOWEVER they are also companies that provide most of the funding for WSAVA so you have take that as a grain of salt.

Overall there has been reviews with people feeding their dogs all sorts of dog food and them living to 15 years or more. I would say pick a few dog foods and see how your dog reacts or find something they like. I would 100% stay away from grain-free dog foods since there is enough evidence that it's linked with Dilated cardiomyopathy DSM. Also with many natural/human dog foods that are promoted as higher quality actually don't have all the vitamins or nutrients that dogs need so just be careful.

Last of all, dog food is 90% marketing. Dry dog food has been figured out, they're all selling the same thing in different packages. Don't jump on the latest craz.

      • Agreed, find a good food that your dog reacts well to, had good poops and has energy.

        My wins have been:
        Taste of the wild
        Blackhawk
        Meals for mutts
        Ziwi peak
        Prime 1000

        My loses have been:
Eukanuba (Very soft poops, and random reluctance to eat)

        • I recently put my dog onto Science Hill's Adult dry and his poos have been fabulous and he has lots of energy so thats a win for me.

What do they consider a Senior fish?

    • +2

When they’re done looking after their offspring and just want to go on cruises around the estuary.

      • You forgot to include…. and spending their offsprings inheritance in the process.

  • no bargain..
$50.40 at bunnings (powerpass = no discount on this product)

That should also have free delivery via onepass as it's less than 22kg.
