AirAsiaX starting flying 4 days per week to Nairobi on the 15th Nov.
If you split the trip into two bookings it comes in much cheaper than one booking via AirAsia.
I got MEL to KL for $229 with Scoot and KL to Nairobi for $278 for December which seems a great deal.
AirAsia in AUD will show $293, change currency to Malaysian Ringgit and use a card with no foreign transaction fee and pay 799MYR.
Happy Holidays.
Melbourne to Nairobi, Kenya via Kuala Lumpur $507 One Way via Scoot & Air Asia X

Kenya is a great place - we are going back for our 2nd time. North Africa is amazing
Yes, Nairobi is a big place, and during the day the downtown area is safe and easy to get around
You only need a couple of days in Nairobi all up to go to the elephant sanctuary, giraffes, and museums
You'll want to book a safari to a national park, otherwise you're missing the best of Kenya. Masai Mara was amazing
If you go to Naivasha I highly recommend Crescent Island Game Park. You walk the entire park by yourself and get incredibly close to the animals
Mombasa was not that interesting, mainly spent time by the pool
Caught the train from Mombasa to Nairobi and the number of elephants you see just from the train is amazing. A friend stayed in Tsavo National Park (or East Tsavo, not sure) and said their elevated accomodation was surrounded by elephants
yes, recommend short stay only there
Was in Kenya for New Years back in 2018.
Stayed at an amazing resort for cheap near Diani beach, south of Mombasa at a resort with a swim-up bar and all you can drink!
At the beach, clear blue water, yellow sand, water was warm to swim in! Had a NYE party there. There were crabs dancing on the floor with us!
Was going to do a train ride one way to Mombassa from Nairobi and plane the other, but we ran out of time and just took plane both ways. On the outbound flight we were the only passengers, me and my partner, so it was like a VIP flight!
Did the safari out near the border of Tanzania & Kenya , took a hot air balloon at sunrise and had a white tablecloth champagne breakfast after landing.
Got to see most of the animals you expect, though the wilder beast migration was a different time of year.
Went to some of the bigger malls in Nairobi there and found a few things to buy and fill my bags with for the trip home.
Had a great time.
Flights inside Kenya will add up though, so try and plan to reduce the number of flights you take.$1500 Return on Qatar Airways in early 2025 seems reasonable too.
Head to classifieds if you're after discounted airasia credits to book your flights..
yes but check if your flights qualify for credits , several dont, or only give partial access
Only applicable on airasia flights
I went to Kenya twice. Once before Covid and came back with a wife. Second time last year, now I have a second wife.
