    $350.12 from 2 years ago

    10 months* lol

Anyway, I got this for around $300 with a triple stack (JB perks, discounted ultimate, discounted vanilla visa) back in May.

HDR is useless and permanently disabled. Primarily bought it for VRR over HDMI (so that g-sync works on my laptop).

      triple stack is crazyyy

  • This or the S2722DGM?

Need it as a second monitor for my work setup and occasional gaming

    • Or the HP Omen 27q that goes for around $280 quite often.

        I needed clarity… not more confusion 😃

          You're welcome 😋

          • @kulprit: Okay rtings rate it higher than both of these… so i am inclined to wait for 27q

            • @snickerz: I’ve been waiting for my second 27q too the problem is it’s OOS for a while :(

            • +4

@snickerz: Have to be careful with RTINGS review.

Looks like you guys are comparing the S2722DGM & HP 27Q, which was tested with "Methodology v1.2". In which case, it's fine to compare between these two, as the same methodology was used.

But if you want to compare to the Dell G2724D, that's a bit harder, as it was reviewed under the new but completely different "Methodology v2". I nearly fell for this extreme blunder while monitor shopping but caught it last minute as I was about to make a purchase.

There was a recent YT video by Hardware Unboxed on the Dell G2724D, which has it consistently beating the HP 27Q in most metrics.

              • @KingJesusThe69th: Thanks for the comments. I went ahead and ordered the monitor. Arrival by end of this month!

Bought this 2 weeks ago from JB. Got pretty unlucky… three dead pixels. But this doesn't really mean much, as dead pixels can happen to any monitor; it's a lottery anyway. I think JB will happily provide a replacement though.

Got to say though, max brightness is unimpressive. My room gets a lot of bright sun in the afternoon, and I have to crank the brightness up to the max.

Coming from a 32" 4K display, and wow, the pixel density does leave a lot to be desired; 1440p at 27" just looks depressing for my seating distance. Text is unfortunately lacking, but I did get this display to game on, so I guess it's fine. I can't imagine how people live with 27" 1080p monitors.

HOWEVER, games with horrible implementation of anti-aliasing (like seriously, why does Rocket League have PS2-era AA??) look really ugly on the monitor; a high PPI 4K display can brute force it so the game doesn't look totally horrible. Wouldn't worry too much about this point though, probably only applies in REALLY NICHE cases.

  • Why aren’t there many 24” QHD monitors?

Something to remember about the LCD market is that there are only so many fabs in the world that actually produce the actual LCD panel (Samsung, LG, Sharp, AUO are 4 of the biggest) and many monitor brands all contain some variation of the same manufacturers panel (A large percentage of those 27" IPS 1440p monitors are LG panels, since LG has invested most heavily in IPS production).

Most of these LCD fabs decide on some size and resolution formats that seem to fit the demand and produce those primarily. Panels that arent coming off the production line need a large order to start producing. There are other factors but that's a large part of the reason you see certain sizes and resolution across all monitors and TV's for that matter.

Fair point. Just seems it would be a sweet spot for ppi.

  • Anyone got hdr to work properly on these panels?

Its disgustingly bad in my experience and whenever it switches over to non-hdr content its like the screen is washed out. I tried calibration and other options but its absolutely garbage and often breaks again on next reboot.

    • Two problems, HDR400 is kind of crap and shouldn't really be called HDR, and also Windows doesn't handle HDR well and you'll often need to toggle it on and off using Win+ALT+B.

      • Yes that last shortcut was what I had been using. But even then the experience is not very good. To make things worse dell has their own hdr presets 😂.

But yeah so, is it even worth buying these for a windows 11 gaming pc? Or if you do, what’s the best way to make the experience better. ✌️

  • This or the LG GP850 which is currently at $397 at Officeworks?

  • What's the advantage of this monitor over others? For example:
    https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/monitors/27-33-inch/1087…

    • The difference is the IPS or VA panel technology.

  • Bought this one today, expected to arrive by Oct 1st. Thank you!
