Pretty good price for the Christmas/New Years period.

Mix and match dates on skyscanner

Available on Aunt Betty / BYOjet, both part of the Flight Centre group, some routes cheaper on Jettzy.
Direct booking with China Southern is slightly more, I tested a date and it was ~$200 higher.

Includes food + 2x23kg luggage (46kg)

Adding a stopover in Guangzhou on the way there or on the way back is either more or less expensive depending on the dates
e.g. PER to LGW 17/12 to 6/1 is $1506
with stopover in Guangzhou for a few days —> $1578

Leave Perth on Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday

Example dates:

London:
15/12 to 6/1: $1697
17/12 to 6/1: $1506
19/12 to 6/1: $1858
22/12 to 6/1: $1570
24/12 to 6/1: $1376
26/12 to 6/1: $1376

Amsterdam:
NOTE - some dates can become cheaper by having a two-stop return (+ Beijing)
very long layover on the return leg (22 hours, ~4pm to ~2pm)
15/12 to 7/1: $1622 (e.g. 1548 with 2 stop on return)
17/12 to 7/1: $1622
19/12 to 7/1: $1686
22/12 to 7/1: $1686
24/12 to 7/1: $1493
26/12 to 7/1: $1557

24/12 to 10/1: $1410 with 2-stop return

Rome:
NOTE - approx $260 extra to return on Sat 4/1
16 hour layover on the way there (~8am to ~12am)
Majority here available on Jettzy, ~$30 more for trip.com which I believe is more reliable

15/12 to 11/1: $1605
17/12 to 11/1: $1605
19/12 to 11/1: $1605
22/12 to 11/1: $1669
24/12 to 11/1: $1438
26/12 to 11/1: $1669
29/12 to 11/1: $1438

Frankfurt:
NOTE - Tuesday departure flights (17/12, 19/12) have extra stop in China and are more expensive, hence excluded. Returning on Sat 4/1 same price as Sat 11/1.

15/12 to 4/1: $1889
19/12 to 4/1: $2003
22/12 to 4/1: $2094
26/12 to 4/1: $2003

Paris:

15/12 to 6/1: $1740
17/12 to 4/1: $1719
19/12 to 4/1: $1898
22/12 to 4/1: $1868
24/12 to 4/1: $1720
26/12 to 4/1: $1543

Istanbul:
NOTE - 2 stopper on the way there (extra stop in Beijing)
It's about the same price (even may save money) to make it a multi-city flight and stopover for a couple of days in Guangzhou on the way there

15/12 to 8/1: $1497
17/12 to 8/1: $1497
19/12 to 8/1: $1562
22/12 to 8/1: $1616
24/12 to 8/1: $1718
26/12 to 8/1: $1331
29/12 to 8/1: $1165 (not included in title)
29/12 to 13/1: $1331

Multi city is also possible and it does make it cheaper in some cases
e.g.
PER to AMS on 15/12
IST to PER on 8/1

= $1546

As someone who loves a good bargain, it's 100% worth the extra $$$ to book via the airline directly…

    • 100%! Purchase through a 3rd party at your own peril

Hard to find anyone these days who says the opposite, yet I didn't follow this advice. I've got a flight in November, let's see how it goes.

In 2013, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) found the airline had transported more than 1,000 monkeys into the United States through the arrangements of Air Transport International, without federal permission to do so, and had transported the animals in insecure crates.

Lets hope they treat their humans passengers better.

    • The same monkeys going to test labs to be tortured/pumped with meds etc but you're concered with the insecure crates lol
      Too funny.

      • Two wrongs make a right in your mind?

At least medical testing serves a purpose. Opposed to this airline just being lazy/cheap.

Point is, you have to wonder what else are they being lazy/cheap with?

    • I wonder why eggs in woolies are expensive for similar cat item compared to Aldi

  • What are these guys like to fly with?

Not great if you're a monkey apparently.

As a human, I found them fine flying to/from Europe. They feed you, give you 2x 23kg bags, and provide a secure seat

      • -1

        What is a secure seat?
How is the service? Food? These things do vary from airline to airline. But you would need to have experienced several airlines to compare, I guess.

Genuinely thought they were fantastic. Flew with them in June - had previously flown with them from UK to Bali as well. Honestly, food was 10/10 - girlfriend is very fussy when it comes to eating on a plane but would have asked for seconds on China Southern.

Only "downside" is the stop overs - which might be more length than others. But I recall having an overnight stop over when i went to Bali - China Southern provided a free overnight hotel which was 4* i believe.

          Can't fault them.

        • +2

The secure seat was in reference to the monkey issue

          Service, fine. Food, fine.

If an airline can get me from Sydney > Europe in <24 hours with food and baggage, then I’ll take the cheapest option every time within reason.

Best airlines I’ve flown are Singapore and Qatar, but that’s reflective in their cost
