Barbeques Galore deals / haggle room?

In the market for a new barbecue, and looking at Napoleon branded in Barbeques Galore. Anyone have experience recently haggling on price with them in store?
Or any gift card deals for their store ?

I'm being searious here. Don't make the same misteak I did. I went into my local BBQ and saw a grate deal on a last one in stock BBQ. I asked the salesman for a 20% discount. He said no. I said c'mon meat me halfway. Unfortunately in that time another customer snagged it. It was one of my wurst experiences.

  • Go in and haggle with them, they would certainly have wiggle room on the price and they worst they'll say is no. I have a Napoleon Rogue SE 625 RSIB that I bought through a Napoleon dealer (not Barbecues Galore) and they were happy to workout a good price on it after some haggling.

Which model are you looking at?

Went down a rabbit hole, originally replacing my 15yr Weber q and then started looking at Weber spirit and genesis. 4 hours of YouTube reviews later landed on phantom rogue 425. Could take or leave the “side sear” but like the infrared back burner for rotisserie sold it to me. Seems to be a highly rated grill

      • They're a very well built unit that's for sure, I bought mine back in 2022 and love it, use it couple times a week. I've only had one issue with a faulty igniter not lighting, I got onto their warranty department and they posted a replacement out to me same day.

That Phantom model looks pretty cool, seems like it might be a Barbecues Galore exclusive going by search. You might have a hard time haggling if they're not really available anywhere else, but I'd certainly visit/call a few stores and try though.

I’ll update here once I’ve had a go haggling in store, but as you said looks like phantom is unique to bbqgalore.
Do you use the infrared side and back burners much? Rotisserie? Do both the side shelves fold down or just the non burning one?

          • @Rkel403: On mine the infrared burner side is fixed, while the opposite side swings up and down out of the way. I do use the side burner every now and then, it burns very hot so it's great to get a nice sear on steaks and so on. I do find it a bit painful to clean though and it does tend to flare quite a bit if you're cooking anything fatty on it, but it is a nice thing to have that's for sure.

I have the Napoleon rotisserie kit so I do use the back burner quite a bit when doing a rotisserie, it works great and I have no complaints about it. I do tend to use charcoal over gas though as I much prefer the flavour when cooking with charcoal. I recently purchased a Weber master touch plus with rotisserie, so I'll be moving to that for rotisserie cooking over using the Napoleon as I can control temps better.

@Rkel403: Went around to all the bbq stores at the weekend. Barbeques Galore were absolutely useless with regards to any knowledge about the products they were selling. Zero haggling room “price is per our promotion” which I pointed out is full price. Anyway when I asked if both shelves fold down (incl the side burner) he said yes and proceeded demonstrate and completely destroy the side burner in the process, he really committed and forced the thing down as hard as he physically could ( this was the closest thing I’ve experienced to a Tim Robinson sketch in real life). Note to anyone who picks up a clearance floor item in Barbeques Galore, make sure you check your warranty as there is a high chance the clueless staff have broken the product.
The phantom is really nice but the Ozbargainer refuses to pay full price.

From there went to BBQ plus (I’m based in Melbourne) staff here were really helpful but the phantom is exclusive to bbq galore. Also looked at their Weber stock. My impressions were that the Spirit looks quite flimsy and would honestly go with Weber q family for around the same price as the spirit deals that come up here. The Genesis looks fantastic, can tell it’s solid and really well built (even more so than the phantom), but it and its shelves are huge, too big for balcony or city courtyard.

Im going to slum it and persist with my old Weber q for the next while. I’ll be on the lookout for a reduction on the phantom.
Otherwise I’ll be looking into a Weber kettle.
If I had room I’d have bought the genesis on the spot (I’d buy a model without the “smart” items as they only have a 3 year warranty. IMO this stuff makes the unit costs higher and would be better off not having perishable parts integrated into the unit)

        • Seen that one half way down the rabbit hole, need lpg and not natural, not sure how much extra it would cost to convert. The lack of doors to hide the gas bottle is a bit annoying also.
When reading into the warranties on the webers, it looks like they have changed they warranties on the newer models to “limited warranties” where the t and c show many of the parts have pretty short warranties when compared to previous models. For me this was off putting as I’ve always fallen into the “it’s worth it to pay more for Weber with less features because the warranty is fantastic”

I dunno bout BBQ's anymore since every hard rubbish weekend you see a BBQ on every second house… Are they really that shit quality these days? Some of the ones I looked at at Bunnings were really cheap crap

Or do people leave em out in the weather to rot.

    • +3

Combination of both I think… People usually buy cheap/crap quality bbq's and then don't look after them or leave them out in the elements 24/7. They eventually rust and fall apart then they get thrown out with hard rubbish. Most people can't justify spending 2k on a BBQ when they can get one that looks similar (to an expensive one) from Bunnings for $300. Like most things in life you usually get what you pay for.
