  • Do you need a referral from a doctor to get one?

I've purchased them from a retailer without a referral before

    • No

You might need to be able to claim health insurance, I did, but not purchase it.

    • No, although some retailers can be a PITA about it. What they're looking for is either a letter from the sleep specialist with your titrated settings, or your old machine they can copy them from.

I'd argue that the CPAP Victoria Footy finals special represents better value with the Resmed bag, filters, humidX refills and wipes for $75 more.

How are these compared to full size units? Noisier or less pressure?

    • These are slightly noisier.

  • mmm.. I just moved from Bupa to GMHBA and noticed Bupa gives 60% up to $500 whereas GMHBA only does $200… Don't really need this but should have bought it first. Guess I'll wait when I move to another provider.

How do these travel CPAPs compare to say an AirSenese 10? - Noise and longevity and any other things one might compare against them. Easy to change the Auto settings?

The larger 'bedside' Airsense 10 has a built in humidifier and can also power a heated hose, so that you get air with moisture in it and don't get dry nose/throat. You can use a HME filter to add moisture but nowhere as effective and needs replacement weekly, while the Air sense 10 humidifier is usually a replacement annually. The travel units are noiser, but I think people get used to as it's usually much quieter than snoring…

Also the Resmed Airmini uses machine specific mask kits, which means locked into specific mask configurations and types. Also if you were to switch to a bedside machine & use only for travel, you would need to replace 2 sets of masks each year. I use a Z2 Auto for travel, as i can swap the one mask between my resmed AS10 and Z2 Auto and reduce my annual costs.

All that said, my colleague uses a Resmed mini as their main unit and likes, while another uses for travel and also like it.
