Asus Vivobook S OLED 14-Inch 2-in-1 Laptop -Did I Get A Good Deal?

Bought an Asus Vivobook S OLED 14-Inch R7-7730U/16GB/1TB SSD 2-in-1 Laptop / TN3402YA-KN174W 4711387228142 for High School Use $1600 - Did I Get a Good Deal?

I recently bought a laptop for my son, who is in Year 9. I plan for it to last him through the next 3 years of high school. He occasionally uses CAD software like Inventor and Fusion at school to model less complicated parts, but it'll also be used for general school tasks, light gaming, and media consumption.

I purchased the Asus VivoBook (model TN3402YA-KN174W) with a 10% discount for a final price of $1600. Did I get a good deal for these specs, and will it handle the CAD work and other tasks well?

Specifications:

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 7730U (4.5 GHz, 16MB cache)
RAM: 16GB DDR4 (2x8GB)
Storage: 1TB SSD
Screen: 14" OLED, 2880x1080, 90Hz, Touchscreen
GPU: AMD Radeon Graphics
Connectivity: Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, multiple USB ports, HDMI 2.1
OS: Windows 11
Weight: 1.5kg
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts—especially if anyone has experience with this model!

    Asus Vivobook S OLED

My son bought one of these a while back. Excellent build quality and a great display. I can't see any issues with it lasting throughout highschool.

Never ever ask questions about whether it was a good price after you have bought it. That's just a pathway to unhappiness.

The screens on those laptops though are awesome though, I wish my dad would buy me one (I'm 40 though and I bought him a computer last time, not the other way around). It'll handle CAD stuff fine, but might need a RAM upgrade at some point (which you can do, it's 8GB soldered, 8GB upgradeable).

    • rightly said… microsoft surface was his preference but this one won at last.

seems alright value wise for a OLED retail
16Gb is enough ram freefall what are you talking about. no where near needed 32gb for desktop usage anytime soon

    • Have you used Autodesk software before? Inventor and Fusion eat memory like no tomorrow.

  • thanks mate.

  • I plan for it to last him through the next 3 years of high school.

Should last far into uni as well

Hoping for it mate. He had ASUS TUF 15 since year 7. he had some issues with his laptop, so he returned as we had the product care.

  • Update: saw this 50$ cheaper. went to store and price matched to it.
