Winery to Visit in Tuscany

I'm heading to Italy, staying in Florence and then Venice.

While in Florence I want to tour a Tuscan winery. I've looked into the organised tours, but they visit 2 wineries across an 8 hour tour, and quite frankly all I want to do is visit and tour one decent Tuscan winery and then I can taste all the wine I like in bars.

Have any fellow bargainers got recent experience with a Tuscan winery, not part of an organised tour?

        1. Antinori nel Chianti Classico: Known for its stunning modern architecture and a wide range of wines. They offer various guided tours and tastings, including a rooftop restaurant with panoramic views.

        2. Castello di Verrazzano: This historic Chianti castle offers tours that include wine tastings and a look into the castle's rich history.

        3. Biondi-Santi: Located in Montalcino, this winery is famous for its Brunello di Montalcino. It's a must-visit for those interested in the history and production of this prestigious wine.

        4. Montefioralle Winery: A small, family-run winery in Greve in Chianti, known for its high-quality Chianti Classico wines.

        5. Podere La Marronaia: A biodynamic winery in San Gimignano that also offers cooking classes and truffle hunting experiences.

        6. Tenuta San Guido: Home to the legendary Sassicaia, one of Italy's most famous wines..

Comment has deemed Off-topic, however by looking at the labels, you might be finding some suitable wineries to visit. Also be able to buy from Dan Murphy's links the wine to your visit. Rather than visiting a winery but never be able to buy the wine locally.

  • You might get more luck posting on a European equivalent of OZB. The number of OZBers that go to Italy to do a Tuscany winery tour, you can probably count on …

Love Firenze and surrounds but not really a wine person. I visited a winery there once, I think maybe in Montespertoli, just before covid. It was impromptu, recommended by a nearby restaurant. Noone else there at the time, they just took us in. It had a domestic feel, I really liked it.

Drive any direction out of Florence and lots of small wineries dot the countryside. Unless you are looking for something specific you can probably just wing it - might even be more exciting than a plan.

There's a FB page 'Aussies travelling to Italy' or something like that. I found the page quite helpful and you'll find plenty of information about the Tuscan wineries. How about the obligatory Antinori?

    • I might have to join FB.. 😂

Amazing organic winery with antipasto meats and pecorino cheese I still crave.

    • A fair drive from Florence, but they look good and I appreciate the recommendation, will keep it on the list.

  • you can stay at this place, part dates back to 10 century, http://www.monteraponi.it/index.php?lang=en chianti classico and very atmospheric.
