Had this printer in my cart, and was considering it alongside the Creality K1*. When I went to try and checkout with the Qidi the price dropped even further, and I discovered the store coupon has just been added. Seems like one of the better reviewed CoreXY printers. It has a full enclosure too, which is appealing given the advice coming out about the toxicity of 3D printer fumes.

*The K1 can be had for ~$630 using one of the PLUS codes here. I got sent an offer for $723 after having the K1 in my cart for a day or two, which may give you an idea what kind of offer they'd be willing to accept for the K1.

  • Picked up a Kobra 3 combo three weeks ago for $550. It also came with 4 kg of PLA, so about another $80 'off.'

As far as I know, PLA is fine to print with little ventilation. I do have a decent air purifier right next to the printer that's always running to help with it. I'm planning to make an enclosure soon, but it's a bit more complicated with the ACE.

    • the maker's muse video review of this one even said PLA/PETG/TPU need to be printed with the door open and top removed, so you're not meant to enclose those filaments. I guess they would have cooling issues or something if fully enclosed?

That is to do with the temperatures more than VOCs

Qidi printers are great, the just announced X Plus 4 looks amazing too with an AMS confirmed for it too

Slightly cheaper direct from the website using 'INNOVATE15CART'. $577.
    Excellent value printer!

  • I got the K1 from the Creality eBay store a couple of weeks ago with a $600 offer.

    • Would much prefer K1C over K1

  • Just be aware that Qidi have effectively abandoned their 3rd gen printers (Which includes this one) from a software support perspective. They stopped doing substantive updates about 6 months ago due to limitations in their platform and look to have focused on the newly released 4th gen devices.

The hardware in them is fantastic, but be prepared to DIY things if you want modern versions of the firmware.

Yep. This tended to be the qidi way. Fantastic hardware with software that needed some tweaking to get the most.
Thankfully it seems they've taken a turn with the plus4 which should theoretically be easier to update longer term as the limitation of manually updating the toolhead board seems to have been addressed. Time will tell though.

Q1 is still fantastic value though. Hoping they'll release an upgrade kit for it to make it compatible with the AMS box too next year.

  • This is only single colour printing, yeah?

    • correct, no auto changing.

    • There's potential that they could sell an upgrade kit for it to be compatible with the AMS box that is coming out early next year. It only really needs a fundamental cutter added. But I wouldn't buy it on that expectation.
