I really want to but the Samsung Galaxy Flip 6 but my research shows mixed reviews.
I know it is inherently a more fragile phone due to the Flip function but I love the design.
I was hoping to get some feedback from people who have the Samsung Galaxy Flip and their honest experience on the phone. Any advice or feedback?
Respectfully asking anyone who does not have to phone to comment - whatever you have to say is likely what I know through my own research.
The hinge definitely makes it more flimsy feeling when it's open, but it's less of an issue versus the Fold6 which I also have. When its closed, it's nice that it takes half the pocket, but why. A good case with a bracket where the hinge is is also good support to protect the hinge.
Overall the flip gesture is just a gimmick at a premium. For the same money I would have preferred a new S24 ultra. Imo having some AI features, selfie and translation on both screens is not a good trade for a lesser camera, smaller screen, lousier battery.

The thing is, I dont really use my phone for pictures and due to my lifestyle a lousier battery is something I can deal with.
But if it really is a crappy qulaity phone, then I would not want to get it.
Buy a second hand Flip 4 for $300-400.
Where from? I would be open to purchasing re-furbushed phones but i dont know if theyre reputable sellers.
Facebook Marketplace. I wouldn't buy a refurbished as they don't replace the battery anyway.
Just inspect the screen and the hinge, put your SIM in, make a call/data connection, try out the camera and speakers. If all good you're good to go :)

Get the flip 5 larger cover screen. I really like my flip 5, my wife has the flip 4. We would never go back to a brick phone again

Do you have any feedback on the actual build of the Flip? Any complaints? How long have you had the phone?
I have Flip 6 since day one and to make it short I'm not planning to buy another flip phone in the future. I have both S24 ultra and Flip 6 here's why I don't like Flip phone:
- Software are way buggier than S24, some apps sometimes frozen and you need to restart the app
- For the price, Flip 6 camera is way inferior in my opinion
- Cover screen is too small to be useful, it end up just being a gimmick. I only use the cover screen if I want to check time or weather.
- You need extra step to access the main screen. Basically every time you want to use your phone, you need one extra step to fold the phone.
- Phone can get hot, once that happens it will limit you to open apps. This happen usually after I use the phone for GPS with android auto, then once I got off the car I need to wait about 10 mins to open some apps to wait for the phone to cooldown
I think the idea behind Flip phone is for people who are a light users and able to do most of their tasks only through cover screen. However, realistically your cover screen is only useful for checking notification, time, and weather. So in the end if you need to type something, it'll be much quicker to open your phone and type from the main screen.
There are some useful features of having flip phone:
- Taking selfies with main camera
- You can use flip phone as a tripod, just place it in a flat surface
- For video call I can just place the phone on a table, so like using a laptop.

I have the flip 4, sceen is cracking after 2 years. Not durable. Will never buy a folding phone again.
I know its not durable but I do love the design
I have Z Flip 3. biggest downside is the battery. But comprised for smaller compact phone. I still love it.
2nd issue is after 2 years the centre fold line shows a crease. It is a design flaw. It should not crease at only 2 years. I have since moved on to the Pixel 6.
I know the battery has increased capacity in the Flip 6. Unsure if they have fixed the crease issue.
I think Ill buy the Flip 6 if I do buy it but the ossues you raised are common from my research
