Is It Worth Buying LG OLED Evo C4?

I never owned OLED TV but came across LG OLED Evo C4 on display at JB-Hifi. It was completely amazed by the quality.

Is it worth spending extra money to purchase this TV? Hisense U8NAU is literally half a price and some people say that probably U8NAU is good trade-off but also not a big fan of Vidaa.

  • As a CS (C1 Frame, C2 Panel) owner, I'm very happy with my purchase. Bought during a Black Friday sale in 2022 for a massive discount ($2200 for 65").
Can't recommend the range enough and would recommend waiting for BF this year to get a good deal. Would likely bring it to a 50% premium to the Hisense, which is well worth it at that point.

With any of these TV's, the stock sound is rubbish, so invest in audio at the same time.

If you have the money, yes :)

This is way too personal a question.

For some it's a complete waste of money. Just like a Tesla, expensive coffee machine, gaming PC, solar panels etc. are a waste to others.

Do you really like watching movies on your TV in high resolution or play a lot of games on new consoles? Do you want the best technology you can afford? Then sure, go for it.

If you watch free-to-air TV as your main source of TV watching or quality doesn't make a difference to you then no, don't buy it.

    • I don't watch free to air TV.

TV to be only used for Netflix/Amazon Prime/Youtube

  • Honestly, the LG OLED's are really amazing. I personally have a 65" CX model and it's one of the best TV's that I've ever owned. Having the ability to have high refresh rate and G-Sync on a TV (I do have a PC connected to it in addition to consoles) and it's fantastic. 10/10 can recommend.

  • Go and look at C3’s and C2’s and see if you can tell the difference.

  • You could get the base model OLED from LG and it'll still blow your socks off.

  • All the C series LG tvs are so damn bright, you wont ever need to crank it up to max. I would definitely still consider a C2 or C3 today

    • Interesting. I was always under the assumption you needed a dark room for maximum effect with OLED and if you have too much natural light you should go LED LCD

    Well here is an update

Just bought 65 inch C4 for less than $2300 including delivery.

I was able to do 25% off price match with Harvey Norman and did 15% jb perks at time of payment.

I don't think I get this price even during Black Friday

    • How exactly did you manage this?

Trying to work out how to do this myself currently

    • How do you get the 25% off? I am trying on live chat but they won't budge… Saying they only match

        It was in store transaction.

The manager took its time to check but ended up offering 25% discount to match HN. I never about Perk 15 discount and just brought it up with different staff at time of payment. The payment staff didnt check anything so happy days!

        • Could you send a photo of your receipt in DM?

        • Could I get receipt too

        • Could I please get a copy, too?

          • @plexus83: JB hifi Perks 15% is already expired so how it is going to help anyone now?

    • That's a great price

      • It's shame that G4 was not on discount though original price difference is merely $200.

        $4295 C4 vs $4495 G4

G4 gets the MLA panel which means it's brighter. Better for HDR. It also has a heatsink on the panel so it tends to return to black quicker where there are long lived bright objects on screen. Another thing to note is the Hisense U8N has a VA panel so it has limited viewing angles, whereas oleds have very wide viewing angles.

You got a damn good price for the C4 though. I still have the B6 55 inch and even though there is burn in now, it's been the best TV I've had.
