For 75%, try to get Rainy75 from Taobao (You will need google translator). I bought for $100. Delivery takes time but much much better keyboard

    • I have this keeb, it's pretty good! Stock space bar sounds nice

    • is it easy to buy things from taobao? this whole time ive been thinking i needed to ship things in bulk and large quantities

      • +1

I just take screen shots and put them in the Google Translator app to translate before I click on anything lol
when I ordered crush80 reboot keyboard, it took a time for me to translate things but its wasn't so hard. Similar interface as Aliexpress.
Shipping is not so expensive if you choose Ocean Freight, about A$15 up to first 1kg and then extra $4/kg something like this. If you choose Air Freight its another A$70 something for a keyboard.

      • +1

It will be worths to get use to Taobao as for example Mchose GX87 Keyboard on Aliexpress costs about $150 in average (may diff for each variants) but on Taobao keyboard itself costs about A$70. So, why not

        • +1

omg thank you for this. my ignorance had me stopping for a trip to china to buy them lol. So glad I have a list of things I want to buy which will make shipping worth it

        • Not sure you should be purchasing gx87 stock until you confirm you are getting the newer versions from their Indiegogo campaign in terms of chassis and software.

However the sentiment remains about Baobao, so long as you are accounting for shipping costs properly.

          • @Namidairo: I'm currently using GX87 SE, I was sooooo tempted to get version2 GX87 from Indiegogo and I actaully made my order too but canceled it because of Crush80 Reboot lol

For GX87 Lite version from Indiegogo, include shipping it costs about $138.
GX87 SE from Taobao, version 1, costs about $80 include shipping.

I don't see much difference in between these. Anyway I'm out of GX87 now

    • Not really the same keyboard though, they have different features. The rainy is a nice solid entry though.

    • Any recommendations for anything that has Hall Effect?

Personally have experience with Ducky (Shine 3 TKL Red), Keychron Q1 (Gateron Black Inks, my favorite) and Akko 3098B (CS Sakura) - which are all great but I am now looking at max $100 alternatives so Taobao ones are tempting

CNC-machined aluminium for me has the best feel.

    • Thanks, bought one. I was looking around for a new keyboard.

    • G'day Dalgona456, old post but I am looking for a Rainy 75 now. Would you have the link to Taobao where you bought yours? Making sure I'm buying from a place where it will actually get delivered. Thanks mate

Been checking this kb every now and then, seems they always doing 20% quite frequent. Hope black friday sale even cheaper.

  • +2

Want this but need full sized

  • Not sure if it is still the case, but the Kogan "Premium" mechanical keyboards were rebadged Royal Kludge units.

Got an MX Brown one for about $60 a few years ago and it's the second best keyboard I've owned next to my Filco Ninja. Still going great after daily use.

    • Not all rk's are created the same those old ones probably use outemu switches but they're pretty poor quality compared t this one which i can recommend as i brought it months back earlier this yr. Best stock keeb I've got for that price point

  • +3

I have the Royal Kludge RK96 90%. love it, compact keyboard with numpad, quality is good

    • Same I have the RK96 at work and RK100 at home, both are great!

  • Got Aula F75 on prime day for around $105, still can't believe how good it is for the price

    • next time, get it from Aliexpress

      • Checked that but theres too many listings and hard to tell what's dodgy.
I was happy to pay 100 bux for a keyboard that needed no mods or anything out of the box to sound and feel so good. Also amazon is way more convenient and less headache if anything breaks

  • +1

I have the RK87 - very happy with it!

  • +1

been on the fence for this keyboard, finally pulled the trigger..ordered 1

  • -1

That's a great price for this keyboard. I know it's nit-picking, would prefer without the knob, since Fn+F11/F12 can also adjust volume and the knob is so small that it's not any easier to use. Put the display where the knob is, put an End key under PgDn.

Understand the knob is also the on/off switch and connection mode selector, so it's fair enough it's there.

It's not well documented or specified, maybe just different batch, there are at least 2 sets of keycaps.

    1) As pictured, appears to be dye sublimation with OEM profile.

    2) Not pictured, different font, double shot with Cherry profile.

  • +1

    That's some brand name.

  • I'd actually reccommend the Monka a75 over this. It's a variant of the rainy75/nd75/bridge75…

New board but it's full aluminimum with volume knob, wireless etc and has been reviewing well.

    • if you can, can you link he cheapest tactile Monka? or closes to tactile that is not super sensitive

      • hey mate, i can't exactly recommend a seller as i'm currently looking to buy it as well. With the monka, the tactile switch is listed as "Sea Salt v2", rest of the options are linear.

Here is the seller I was looking at :

        https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005007124811098.html?spm=a2g…

        • thanks, mate. this helps.

  • anyone know how to make chocky sounding keys without breaking the bank on a 300keyboard and then expensive replacement keys?

    • +2

      Look into Bridge75, Rainy75, Monka a75, Womier SK75 or Chilkey ND75

All of these are full alu, decent keycaps and switches… they're newer prebuilts and slight varients of each other, all of them have been received well and pretty much the current budget kings.

      • thanks ill check these out, much appreciated

      • Is the rainy 75 better than the aula f75?

        • Aula f75 is not alu I believe… though I'm very happy with Aula f75

          • @nekov: The F75 case is also very mod-unfriendly because of how likely you are to dent the plastic trying to get the clips open. However, most people find the sound of it pretty pleasing stock anyway and don't bother.

Software and firmware is a dumper fire though, and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. (I also unironically love how the MCU vendor made a chip that would almost always be in a keyboard solution, but didn't bother writing a recovery sequence into bootrom instead of the overwritable bootloader.)

Also that one F75 with the cooked ribbon cable, but that's basically a risk with any board with a shorted battery. (May not be user error as it happened with a replaced ribbon cable and ports too, so likely a faulty BMS and shorted battery?)

    • Apparently with masking tape.

      • oh just dull the click with masking tape? interesting, i think it would work

        • +3

yeah, its called the tape mod, you generally will use a few layers of painters tape on the back of the PCB which can help with the sound profile.

    • +1

      Go for Rainy75 (75%) or Crush80 (TKL)
I've just ordered these two from Taobao. Rainy costs me about A$120 and Crush80 costs me about $190, including shipping and GST (Ocean freight)
They are all aluminium housing, lots of sound absorbing forms, 2.4/cable/bluetooth support, etc etc

The keyboard world has changed a lot recently.

      • looks like the price of rainy75 went up

        • Not on Taobao. I bought one a few hours ago and it's roughly similar to what @Dalgona456 has mentioned.

        • +1

Dont buy from Aliexpress for Rainy75. They just buy in bulk from Taobao and resell on Aliexpress with their own profit.
If you are using Chrome, install Google translator extension to translate website from Chinese (Simplified) to English or your preference.

Then click on the link below for Rainy 75 and/or Crush80 Reboot.

To join the membership of Taobao, I only used my phone number +61 xxxx xxx xxx, thats it.

          • @Dalgona456: thanks for the tip! will do setup the Taobao :D

          • @Dalgona456: Thanks for the reply, for the rainy 75 i have 2 options.

            Axis name
            :
            Snow top cocoa shaft (Kaihua)
            HMX

            Which switch would you reccomend?

            • @ClintonL: HMX (violet) is more popular

                • @ClintonL: good! now just sit back and relax for 4 weeks ;)

You will get notified from the App for any updates like Courier picked up, delivered to sorting centre, etc.
Once the item gets delivered to Regional sorting centre, it will get measured and you will need to pay the shipping. I recommend you to use App rather than Website for this.

From the App, you will see some different choices for a payment, click the one with "Globe" logo on it. You should be able to pay the shipping with saved card information.

                  • @Dalgona456: Thanks for the help, so it's at the warehouse and on the website I have an option to consolidate shipping and pay but it won't let me pay with my card. I downloaded the app like you said to pay through the app but theres no option to pay there only track order.
Where abouts did you have the selection to pay for shipping on the app?

                    • @ClintonL: Ok on the app, click the thing to pay for the shipping. It would come up with few different option. Select the one with Globe icon on it.
This will let you pay the shipping in US $. Send me private message with some screen shots

                      • @Dalgona456: Hey appreciate the help, I didn't have anything that said pay for shipping. Nothing when I clicked on the item or to ship etc.

I had to go to the notifications tab which then everything onwards was in Chinese then I pressed the top notification and stumbled my way through until I saw a globe icon and paid luckily. Was a bit of a maze but managed to get through it.
Was about $20ish for sea freight.

                        Thanks again for the help

                        • @ClintonL: Congrats! you made it! haha
Use google translator app for every single steps!

                • @ClintonL: For Rainy 75, there are 3 different variants.

Low: No RGB with 3500 Battery (black and Silver)
Mid: RGB with 3500 Battery (all colours)
High: RGB with 7000 Battery (all colours)

              • @Dalgona456: is there any tactile switch?

                • +1

@Brakus: For the switches I usually buy from Aliexpress.

                  Try

                  :: Tactile ::
                  MMD Holy Panda 2
                  Kailh Midnight
                  Haimu Midnight

                  :: Silent Tactiles ::
                  Outemu Lime v3
                  Outemu Cream Yellow Pro
                  Keychron K Pro Silent Brown
                  Akko Silent Penguin

                  Kailh Midnight Silent

      • How is the rainy 75 compared to the aula 75?

        • +1

mate, Aula F75 is plastic, Rainy 75 is full cnc aluminium. Its totally different class

      • Have a taobao link for the Crush80 at all?

  • I've had battery use issues, mine doesnt go into sleep mode sometimes so i manually turn it off when not in use

  • Which switch is closest to blue switch? I need something loud :D

    • Look for any switch that is advertised as clicky.

  • +1

    I cannot the 20% discount :(

  • @Dalgona456 My razer blackwidow elite has served me long and well.
I'm a touch typist, do a lot of typing, 10% number key. I would like to try a quiet keyboard but still have that tactile clicky feel. What do you recommend please?

    • Mate, I'm a person who hates any clicky sounds when typing lol, I swapped all of my keyboards to silent switches.
      I recommend below switches.

Outemu Lime v3 - Tactile Silent. Soooo quiet but still gives a bit of tatile feel $23 for 90 switches (Aliexpress)
Outemu Cream Yellow Pro - Tactile Silent, its quiet and gives a more of tactile feel when compre with Lime v3 About $25 for 90 switches (Aliexpress)

Keychron K pro Silent brown - I'm using this right now, try Youtube for typing sound. I bet you will love this. A$49 for 110 switches (AU local stores)

      • All switches are factory lubed
      • So I can buy these keys and swap them out on my razer keyboard?
And boom, just like that, no more clicky clacks?

        • +1

Oh blackwidow lite is not hot swappable so you cant sorry.

Try to get Aula F87 Pro for about $70 on aliexpress, with extra switches $25 I’ve mentioned on above.

        • +1

Or buy something like Mchose GX87 SE (Full aluminium keyboard) from Taobao. Including GST and shipping, it might be something like A$80~90

          https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?abbucket=2&id=787608342542…

Check my all comments above for how to use/order from Taobao.

  • My RK keyboards have lasted much longer than my Epomaker keyboards. Better battery, better PCB. I've had battery failures and the PCB cratering due to component failure with Epomaker.
