ApplePay in iOS 18 / WatchOS 11 - Anyone Else Having Issues?

Updated both my iPhone and Apple Watch to the new versions, and tap-to-pay with ApplePay seems to have stopped working — wondering if anyone else has had similar issues and if it might be tied to Aussie banks (in my case, ANZ)?

Tried deleting my cards from Wallet altogether and re-adding them, but hasn't made any difference. Payments within apps have been fine, so it's only an issue with tap-to-pay.

You reckon they never tested it with Australian banks ?

No issue on my iPhone 15 Pro. Updated to iOS 18 yesterday. Tapped to pay today with Apple Pay (linked to a CommBank debit card).

15P and Apple Watch Series 8 here both upgraded and tap to pay works fine on both

I had issues during beta, but a full removal of the card, reboot phone, then re-adding fixed it for me. Sorry that solution didn’t fix it for you!
Also try toggling between visa and savings, I think I initially had issues with using ‘savings’ for some retailers, but haven’t had that problem for a while.

    • A second go at doing this (removal, reboot, re-add) did the trick. Very odd that it didn't do anything the first time.

OP, it would be helpful if you could elaborate on what you mean by not working.

Do you take your vehicle to the mechanic and say the car isn't working?

FYI, my Apple pay functions, Watch and iPhone on latest iOS

    • I was pretty specific in saying the issue is with tap-to-pay and not Apple Pay in it's entirety.

iPhone 14 Pro Max here. My NFC wasn't working at all when I first updated. I just rebooted it and it's been working fine since then.

  • Anyone’s Safari on IOS18 freezing? I’ll be browsing, and then it’ll load a page and you can’t do anything. Have to force quit it

if you want everything to work reliably don’t update to the latest major update on release day.

if you weren’t on 17.7 it was the first update option recommended by Apple. 18 was an extra tap away at the bottom.
