Placement of Billi / Zip Tap (Kitchen Sink)

I'm in the middle of a kitchen reno and have already purchased a Billi B-4000 hot/filtered tap in addition to a kitchen mixer tap.

The kitchen sink will be a large double basin, with the mixer tap installed in the middle.

Any suggestions for the best placement of the Billi tap? We'll use the right basin for washing and move to the left for rinsing. Just trying to think of the best placement where it's not going to be in the way…e.g. on the right or left basin, and how far away from the mixer? Any help with those that have Billi/Zip taps installed is much appreciated.

            @mapax: Are you sure?

            • @jv: Now you mention it, I’m not 100% sure.

@mapax: It looks like @coffeeinmyveins achieved their goal to create an off topic tangent in this deal post yet again…

                • @jv: Dang it, we fell for the bait.
                  Well played coffeeinmyveins. Well played.

can you getem a standalone setup

otherwise to my mind having it in the corner would be best, whichever side suits preferred hand for holding your beverage container/pressing tap button

      Good advice.

Thanks, not doing standalone. Benefit of at the sink is the space underneath to accommodate the tank. I don't like the look when it's at the corner point, but after thinking more and looking at more photos, will probable put it close to the corner, just slightly inset from the point. Thanks for the suggestion.

On the left basin, at the top left corner.

This is where they have put them in every tearoom I have ever used, and it's never been an issue.

Thanks, does seem like toward the corner makes sense after thinking about it more.

  • Interested to know why you chose Billi over Zip? Zip has integrated models so only a single tap is needed.

    • Price. Would have cost twice as much for a Hydrotap vs mixer+Billi. Also minimises risk of either the mixer or the Billi failing outside of warranty and not having to pay the premium.

      • Are you doing a hand soap pump too?

        • -1

          No, just the taps.

@redrum22: Assume you're into herbal and/or green tea? Those taps don't dispense water hot enough for black tea because the pipe runs are silicone.

            • @sumyungguy: Odd assumption, not installing it to make tea. I'm aware of the max temp it dispenses water at.

              • @redrum22: Just wondering because I've never considered them to have a domestic application unless you desire tea water below 90°. Chilled or carbonated perhaps, but not-quite-bolling water?

  • Can’t you buy an all in one flick mixer that does both?

  • A $2,000 tap should probably be under museum glass in the entryway, so everyone can admire it.

    • Top model Zip G5 $8,595

      • I wonder if it's better not to know what it's like to spend that much on a tap. Like if you had so much money that you had the best of everything, there'd be no more easy excuses for being unhappy with life. You could only blame yourself after buying the $8,595 tap.

Billi? Only belongs in an office work kitchen

  • Where you can fill water bottles and any drips are collected.

I would hold a bottle with my right hand and press button with my left. In the basis the LHS of the sink????

  • You don't necessarily have to put the Biilli tap on the sink

You can get a font and install the Billi tap away from the sink. Obviously as long as you plumb the drain.

    • Considered that at one point, but seemed to have the disadvantages in a home kitchen of taking up usable cabinetry below it, and not having the clearance to fill larger pots.
