Fee Free ATM in Philippines

G'day guys, any Fee Free Atm in Philippines or do I just pay the ATM operator fee of php250?

Is the HSBC debit card fee free on withdrawal on the ATM Philippines? Is Wise card fee free on their x2 ATM withdrawal per month?

I did check Whirlpool, reddit and OzBargain before posting but nothing updated since the NAB takeover of Citibank.

Cheers

  • Why do you need cash? When I was over there a few weeks ago, I just paid with card for everything.

    • I have read that cash is still king up there.. street food only accepts cash.,

      • Didn't really buy off the street, I always ate in shopping malls/centres. I didn't see much street food where I was based.

    • I am guessing you didn't tip any of the people who provided you with service.

      • No tipping…

      • Well most of the time, the boss was paying for food but any other shopping I did, it was all card.

  • +3

My Filipina friend told me that over there, white men are ATMs

  • +1

I had luck with Citibank last year, they have one in the departures area of MNL airport.

Don’t waste your time with Wise, ING or anyone who limits the number of free withdrawals

    • Yep from what I read, citibank is now rebranded to unionbank. But not sure about the NAB card working on the rebranded unionbank-citibank atms.. thanks thou

  • Use remitly to transfer to Cebuana Lhuillier or M Lhuillier (first remittance attracts no fees and good exchange rate) this does men you are carrying a lot of cash though - while there last time we also opened a bank account with ATM card and will remit directly into that in the future

    • Cool.. which bank if i may ask? Will sus these out cheers

    • Were you there on a different VISA other than a tourist VISA I tried opening an account probably around 10 years ago because I was in and out of there so often for about 6 months of the year but they wouldn't let me open an account, can not remember which bank it was so I gave up pretty easily.

      • Yeah, the proof of address is a stickingbpoint, but my wife was born in the philippines and used her sisters address.

Red tape in PH has driven me to breaking point a number of times.

  • I generally use BPI and pay the 250 PHP. Be sure to give Euronet (aka Scamnet) a miss.
