I believe it is using 2x8GB in there at moment. You can swap it out with 2x16GB or 2x32GB if you want more storage.

  • This, or a refurbished Dell Optiplex Micro for a streaming/ torrent/ Plex box?

    • +2

If you need internal storage like 20+TB HDD then this is not for you. If you have an external NAS for that and need this to drive the streaming and other things, then this is good especially with two network 2.5Gbps ports that you can communicate on.

      • There’s also the option of a DAS. My MeLE mini PC has a Terramaster DAS attached, and it’s working well.

    The P3 looks unavailable now

    • looks like it's $650 after discount?

    • Marked it as expired..

    purchased thanks OP!

I had a Kamrui ak2 with a little n100 but the fan was making grinding noises. Amazon refunded it no questions asked.
It was fine for Jellyfin media server, ok for dedicated server hosting but struggled a bit sometimes (valheim etc.), hopefully this processor handles the workload better, even if it means drawing a bit more power.

As with any unknown branded mini PC, perform a full windows reinstall before using to avoid potential spicy malware.

    @OP

Not a false alarm. The seller changed the listing, I definitely saw the P3 available at the price in your title yesterday.

Was changed to the P4 after P3 stock ran out.. luckily I checked again and noticed the difference.

I bought a P3 at the stated price yesterday and typing on it now. Very nice machine!

      • What's the idle (non-sleep) power draw like on these? Especially with the 35W TDP set in the bios.

  • Bummer, I sat on this for too long.

If anyone has any other recommendations that are similar to this I'd be grateful.

This is probably the cheapest next in line with same specs ($566):

      https://www.amazon.com.au/Mini-PC-6900HX-TRIGKEY-S6/dp/B0D3K…

80 bucks more though from the deal.. but still quite reasonable given they average around $680+

      • +2

Sweet, thank you. $80 extra is the price I pay for not buying the other one.

    • This one looks to be back on sale again, it's actually cheaper than before now I think.
      There is a $150 coupon

      • Nope, that's the P4.

  • +1

    Available again.

    • Yeah seems this $489 should be their 'regular' RRP now, again HODL for black friday to see how much lower this will go, hopefully under $400!

  • Is there any reason these are so much cheaper than NUCs? Is it just the brand? I have a panther canyon with an i5. In terms of software development would the AMD be comparable with Intel?

    • I’d say reputation and support. We know the quality of an Intel or ASUS NUC, but probably are not so sure about the new Chinese brands. If there’s a new serious CPU vulnerability that needs to be fixed urgently at the BIOS level, we can expect Intel or ASUS will push out a firmware update soon, but I don’t know if BOS and other Chinese brands can do that.

I’d definitely buy this as a cheap mini PC for casual gaming or so, but would not use it for any critical or data sensitive work.

  • How good is this to run games via Steam, like NBA2k or WWE 2k.?

  • this is really good home or business with very minor gaming.

I think for xtra 200, this is better buy, you get 32gb Ram and 1Tb ssd…

    • Aren't these units upgradeable by the user anyway? Might be cheaper to get the Ryzen and buy your own RAM/SSD upgrade still?

  • Is this good for a server set up or mainly to help parents use a pc?

    • mini pcs are for home use with large screen (you can buy 32 inch or up for elders ) and save power. parents/kids and very small gaming or photo edits.

      movies/youtube/tiktok etc

  • I'm considering to upgrade my very old laptop and considering this or refurb i7 10610U (same RAM and storage size). Never use mini PC before. However, if portability is not an issue, should I take this mini PC compared to that notebook? The heaviest application I'm going to use is Lightroom CS for simple photo editing.

    • Do you have a link to that refurb i7 pls?

      • This one from ebay

Using coupon the price become $481

  • How would the dual 2.5g ports work for your general home / small office user? I understand it has the ability to connect to different networks but way it’s just one network, can you combine both ports into one capacity port?

    • I think dual NICs are most common if you are using it as a router or fairly advanced scenarios with bonding or failover.

Basically, if you have to ask it’s not for you. It’s definitely not for general office use.

I’m actually surprised they spend the cents on the additional NIC on these things. Surely 99%+ aren’t using it.

      • Using a mini PC as a pfsense router or as a VM host is a very popular usage so it does make sense that they include that.

  • Can anyone confirm if the GPU is the 630 or 680? Multiple comments here saying its the 680 however on the linked listing it looks like its a 630?

    • Listing error. The 630 is an Intel integrated graphics chip. So they've probably copied the listing from an Intel model and forgot to update the iGPU

    • it's a Radeon 680M

  • Again OOS, all got ozbargained. Hope their next stock up will be Black Friday sale price
