I had trouble fitting this to my bayonet YMMV

  • Hot deal. Hope this doesn't blow up or there will be a bunch of explosive delivery vans around Australia.

Surprised they are allowed to ship these - would have thought it was a classic contender for in store only

    • +1

You’d think so (I’m surprised they’re not restricted under ADG Code) but they’re pretty safe when you think about it. All packaged up. No valve to open. Robust container. Small volume.

Not really too much to worry about unless you’re literally crushing the box.

I see you've never met couriers before.

No different to a can of deodorant really, both are pressurized with butane/propane.

    Great deal thanks op

    Perfect timing … cheers op

  • Anyone want to joint buy and split the shipping to make it even more value located in Homebush Sydney send me a message

  • Ordered 6 (Holding my breath)

    • +1

I'm not sure you can breathe these anyway, may as well take a breath of air in the meantime.

  • Great price , no brainer, bought 20 plus shipping. Winning

All stores are out of stock

  • +1

This is the breakfast of champions

  • +1

Is there such a thing as stale stock with butane, I wonder? Like old petrol?

    • +1

I just pulled some out of storage the other week when there was no power after the storms. They'd been in the shed for about 4 years and worked fine on a stove

      • +12

        Sounds pretty scientific

        • True, but that's all you want from gas for it to burn normally.

    • +1

No, the butane is non-reactive at the temperature and pressure it is stored at, and if there are any additives (i.e. odorants for leak detection) would not be reactive either under the same conditions. All the reactive components would have been fractionated off to be used as other fuels or as chemical feedstock.

Can we snort these? Asking for a friend.

  • Does it include gas? seems to be just refillable cannisters

    • Where did you read that?

      • -5

Well, it doesn't specify say they are filled with gas, would suck to receive a bunch of empty containers 🤣

        • The whole point of these is that they are cheap/disposable.

    • +4

Uh, I highly doubt these are of the refillable variety 😅

At 220g per canister, they are definitely filled with gas.

      • +1

        bloody hope so, bought 20😅

  • +2

Is bayonet fitting the standard fitting for butane stoves?

  • +2

    @EmmaOZ Thankyou 👍 I bought 4 packs, crazy good price, cheers 🍻
Gonna melt me some cheese! 🧀😅

For those who might be interested, I also bought one of these torches off Ebay, only $8! It seems to be the cheapest price (hope it fits okay on these butane cans?) Plus it also has a trigger, whereas some do not, so it's easier for one handed use 👍

I had one of these, would not recommended cheaping out on things that involve gas and fire. It eventually leaked gas and almost exploded in my hands.

      • Thanks for the feedback👍 Glad to hear you avoided injury!

The reason I bought this one is because the nicer one I bought of Amazon here:

        https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08Y5M5V3X?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_f…

has been a real pain in the butt to fill, no matter how much I tried, it would only fill up to about 1/4 of the gauge, to the point where I think it was just wasting heaps of gas and not going into the torch at all.

So I figured these ones that just go straight onto the can are a solution to this issue, at least until I work out how to fill the other one 😅

    • I have this one. Best thing ever..but..watch out for the nozzle end. Broke off when I dropped it. It's a pretty thin attachment point.

      • @tunzafun001 Sorry, I'm confused 😅 Do you mean the Ebay one or the Amazon one?

        • +1

          ebay

          • @tunzafun001: ah! 👍 Good to know that it worked well for you, thanks for the tip, I'll try to be careful 🍻

Just bought 51 of these, qualifies for free shipping (over $99). Works out less than 50c a can. thanks OP

    • Hopefully no accident occurs during shipping, 204 cans might get a bit explosive 🤯

    • +1

Makes me wonder how much excess stock they have to be clearing these out at such a price…

    • +4

      Postie is gonna love you

      • +5

Bought 51 packs due to no click and collect stock. Hopefully it gets fulfilled.

  • For those who have no nearby stock, try checking if Jaycar has any stock and get them to price beat (by 1%).I assume they would given they have the same parent company.

    • +1

Went to Jaycar Melton and they refused to price beat because it has to be within a 20km distance

      • +1

Wow what a crap reason, that sucks

Now on the lookout for a decent cooker

  • I remember when they were selling the old cookers pretty cheap trying to get rid of stock before the recall .
Be aware it’s pretty easy to pick up debris if you change the cylinder on the ground .
Don’t let kids use them unsupervised , they are pretty dodgy basic camp cooker ,
but saying that very convenient for brewing coffee or bacon n eggs .
Just be fully awake when using pressurised gas grease oil ect .
Probably good to pair with an extinguisher and fire blanket.

  • Anyone keen to share 25 in Melbourne?

    • I bought too much, welcome to share

  • +1

I noticed that these do not have the over-pressure safety release valve that all the new ones seem to have.
Not sure if that is a requirement or soon to be one but it might explain the price

    Specs:
2037 - Gas cartridges (flammable) without a release device, non-refillable

  • I saw on their FB listing that there is a limit of 4 per customer. Screenshot below:
    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/59521/115883/screensho…

    • They billed me $117. Let’s see if it changes

          Nice!

  • Mine came today

    • Hey could you do a favor? Please tell me where these are made? Hopefully its printed on the can

      • I’ll check tomorrow and let u know

      • +2

The box says Made in Korea

  • Received my entire order. Very happy!

  • How do you dispose of the cans once the gas is used?

    • +1

I release any remaining gas in a ventilated area by plugging it into my portable stove, and toss into the recycling bin when the canister feels completely empty (no sloshing when shaken).

I'm interested in knowing if there are better methods for disposal too.
