New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080v13 $199.99 Delivered @ The Athlete's Foot

270

General consensus is these have dethroned the Adidas Ultraboost as the king of the daily trainers. Not the cheapest they've ever been but it's rare to see the entire range with a blanket discount rather than niche styles/sizes. RRP $260. Free express delivery on orders over $150

Nice, I’m still wearing 1080 v12, great shoe

    • +1

These will be my first pair, I've been watching prices for ages but didn't want to buy the poo poo brown or neon green which seem to be the only ones that go on clearance regularly

    • still

You expect us to know when you started wearing it?

Mine shat the bed in less than two years. The mesh part doesn't last at all.

  • Are these better than Hoka Clifton 9?

I need a good pair for a lots of walking. Especially on Holidays.

Are these in stores as well? I need to try them on first.

    • +1

They are softer, but less breathable. For summer I'd stick with the Hoka, winter the 1080v13.

    • Best try them on instore to compare. Hoka Clifton 8 and 9 have been amazing for my feet in the 2E wide. I find them more stable than the 1089 V14 , and despite the extra cushioning of the NB, I can wear the Hoka for longer periods

Fantastic shoes for beginner and early-intermediate runners.

Some advanced runners will also have a pair to use occasionally.

I've mostly moved on to more expensive shoes, but these absolutely have a place!

    • Any particular ones you would rate better than these, I found these are excellent for recovery runs.

  • is this a good shoe for travel?

  • +2

Think the 1080 v14 isn't too far away. In my experience these are not the best running shoes but great casual and walking shoes.
Very soft and not much response. Definitely best for slow running.

  • I wear NB 1080's now but what are peoples thoughts on the best $150 - $200 shoes for walking 10 - 15km a day?

  • Ultraboost hasn't been the king of daily trainers for 10+ years, if it ever was.

    • I don’t think that’s right. I think around 2015-2017 ultraboost was the shoe to wear.

These 1080v13 is not for everyone. Highly recommend trying these out first. IMO they are too soft. The v12 were better…

      • Ultraboost was one of the first superfoams back in the day, but always a heavier shoe that many chose for fashion reasons. I am not saying they are bad, but calling them the king is a stretch. In any case you make a good point about every shoe being "not for everyone". Best to go with the right fit etc. than just following fashions and even (gulp) bargains :)

hand in your OzB badge right now

          • @bleemo: hahahahaha When it comes to feet I only go for bargains that actually fit right

  • very good shoe

  • +2

good shoe, but i recommend to try before you buy, wider fit is better option which is only available from NB online store

    • +1

Either wide fit which is hard to find or half a size larger. I had to size up because the toe box was so cramped.

  • +2

Having owned many NB fresh foams and Adidas Ultraboosts, they are good daily trainers at slower paces (5:30min/km and up). These are great for walking and slow recovery runs IMO.

I personally prefer Hoka Mach 6, Adidas SL2, Saucony Ride for my daily trainers. More responsive and stable at paces 3:45-5min /km.

  • Is this better than Asics Gel Nimbus 25?

    • they're similar. I have both.
