Set up some Network Storage, put it behind a reverse proxy or a tailscale network, then set up an Immich backend. Now you can take as many photos and videos as you could possibly want.

You say all that as if it's simple and anyone with limited knowledge could achieve it.

        • So instead of being happy with limited knowledge and paying a ridiculous premium for very little storage, why not consider expanding your knowledge and learning how to set up a network storage solution?

          • +1

@jasonxc: Because it's not as easy as you are making it out to be, and certainly not something your average smartphone owner/buyer would consider doing, or have the means to do.

            • @magic8ballgag:

Based on what? Have you even tried to set up network storage yourself?

With Tailscale it's easier than ever. But by all means continue overpaying for on-board phone storage if you can't even be bothered trying to learn new things.

            • @magic8ballgag: It's really not that complicated. Sounds daunting but it's basically some software you leave running on your computer. Change some setting here and there and voila.

Lots of people willing to help and even chatgpt can probably generate step by step directions for you now or troubleshoot for you

@lawyerz: I tell you what, write some instructions on how to do it and I'll give them to my parents to follow.

  • Would it be worth upgrading from 7 Pro?

    Geez android 21 sounds wild

  • Any downside to purchasing through eBay vs a real store? Issues with warranty etc?

    • Mobileciti is a real store? Warranty should be the same as purchasing it in person at one of their stores

Anyone able to recommend a good tempered glass screen protector?

I've got this one. It's on the pricier side, but it comes with 2 in the pack, and it has an installation guide frame included. Some online reviews say it doesn't fit perfectly because of the slight curve in the pixel 8 screen at the edges, but after a day, it settles in completely. I highly recommend this one.

      • Thanks for that. Any chance you could share how it looks nice? Does it have any white around the edge at all from the slight curvature in the edge of the screen

  • Any chance of getting cashback from shopback? I know regular cashback might be declined but BOM bank bonus cashback will be approved ?

  • Anyone tried doing a JBHiFi deal?

    • To answer this, tried live chat and it didn't work since it was considered a marketplace with a promotional coupon.

  • any phone with two sim card slot and additional sd card slot?

  • Will 128G sufficient?

    • Yeah, mine just used 60-70G, include 3 games, and rarely photos, videos.

  • DO you guys know if its possible to request a proper invoice for ebay stuff? I just sold my pixel 8 and got P9F pro. Might just get this one again as i am travelling overseas next month and claim TRS

    • I bought the one in this deal and they sent an invoice without me asking. Probably something mobileciti does but a lot wouldn’t. The invoice price is $789 (no discount showing)

  • +1

You get a tax invoice from them once it is shipped. I have already received mine

    Thanks, grabbed one!

Anyone recommend a case that makes the camera flush with the body, to prevent camera damage (i.e. sitting on the phone in jeans).

Thanks OP. Bought one. Should arrive tomorrow. Wife will be happy.

  • Damn. I feel bad for buying an in between phone that's too new to replace with this right now =(

Thanks, I just got one. Appears it’s coming out of some baskets so keep trying. YMMV

  • Nooooo, changed to 663 when I went to pay. Oh, well, still a bargain.

  • Wow, ordered 17th at 8pm and arrived this morning express post. That was fast!!

  • Can't recommend the Pixel 8, have had 3 all with the same screen issue (intermitten issue where the screen turns completely green and phone is unusable) within a 9 month period. I've got a refund and am unfortunately pushed to the S24 instead.

    • Where did you happen to buy the phone from? Was the retailer or Google good to deal with?

      • Officeworks, they were shocking to deal with as their only resolution was sending the phone away for repairs but then that leaves me without a phone.

Google have also been shocking to deal with, they had given me 2 refurbished devices, so after attempting to draw the line in the sand given I've had 3 phones replicate the exact same issue, I asked for a Pixel 9 replacement and they said no, their resolution was offering another Pixel 8 to which I said no thank you.

And for the record phone never dropped and lives in a heavy duty Quadlock MAG case.
