Bathroom Paint Colour

Hi, I'm trying to decide between these colours for the vj panels in my bathroom. I have brushed brass tapware and walnut vanity. A few questions:

  1. Which colour goes better with the other items in the bathroom?

  2. What colour should I do the moulding, cornice and ceiling?

Colour is a personal choice. I'd need to see wider shot, the overall design, different lighting etc but I'd most likely rate the lightest grey last. Would likely still look good but can also be seen as trying for, and not quite getting, an exact match to everything else. The ones on either end are too close for me to really judge via a picture.

As for ceiling and cornice you can't really go wrong with classic ceiling white. It's a safe and easy choice and you'll likely have other white items anyway.

Also the paint colour charts provide mix and match combinations / themes so consult those.
Go down to Bunnings or hardware store and grab a few.

Personally Id stick to lighter colours in bathroom.

As for the given choices OP can always paint over if it looks undesirable

A poll with options from far right to extreme left; nice try Gallup.

  • Hard to tell, space is subjective. Based on the tiles Id avoid 3, too close. Contrast and bathrooms can go darker. Nice colours currently coming out of Europe with darker wallpaper you can suss out for inspiration (colours not wallpaper)

  • What matter is what @JV likes, he prefer hot pink :)

While many people will tell you colour is subjective, and many self-labelled stylists will choose weird combinations of darker colours, the reality is that bright colours (especially bright whites) will always make a room look bigger, brighter, more modern, newer, etc. Bathrooms are generally small spaces, so brighter colours always work better in my opinion.

The exception is very beautiful stone-like tiles, which can look good in a bathroom even if they're not very bright.

However, if your bathroom is absolutely huge, with heaps of natural light coming in, you could choose a combination of a bright colour and a dark colour and it would look OK.

    • Colour is subjective to the person picking it. While colour theory and light will play a role when it comes to aesthetics and how it is in the bathroom

You can speculate and input colout harmony in anything, but ultimately it's the persons choice at the end of the day, what matters is they like it.

OP could go for a modern aesthetics where colours complement each other, give the bathroom a larger, luxe feel but if the OP likes off-white but decided to go for a light peach colour because…. Colour theory and current trends, then will the OP be truly happy?

For example, I painted my ceiling black and I don't regret it cause I love black. But people say my room looks a bit small. So what? I like it.

  • Personally I'd go either of those green shades, will pop nice against the brass and walnut.

  • The right choice is your choice and what you like

  • Any subliminal reason your considering 50 Shades of Grey?

95% of new houses today are shades of taupe and charcoal. Its as boring as, well, taupe. Its like everyone suddenly wants to look like a 4 star serviced apartment.

      • Or Alcatraz in it's hey day.

      • Colours go through trends just like everything else. Another 40 years and we'll probably be back to green and orange kitchens.
