      No_oles and lesssunny here :P

      • It's okay, we have jv

  • what linux distributions are available? can you boot off ISO images?

    • I believe this is barebone and presumably can be run on any OS?
What I concern is if there is any ports were blocked on their backend?

      • +1

Only common mail ports blocked by default (industry standard at this point). This is an abuse deterrent technique and happy to unblock on request.

    • We have most major Linux distro templates available plus netboot.xyz available for ISO mount. We can also allow you to mount any ISO you like via HTTP, just need to open a ticket.

  • Hi op, browsing thru the website, there is lack of info about contact us, will it be always via ticket? Is there any phone number contact?
The comp is registered in Tas but you’re using Equinix SY3 so I assume if there is any incidents happening, you might need to rely on Equinix remote hand?
Can you give me some words how you compare yourself with BinaryLane?

    • +2

Hey, Correct ticket only, phone support is becoming less common for these types of services and adds a lot of overhead.

Again correct, if there are hardware issues Equinix remote hands would be taking care of it. They are already on site and would be used even if we had local staff, I've seen a 2 min response time from ticket submission to someone standing in front of the rack before.

Underlying technology that both BinaryLane and FlowVPS use is the same, KVM. The difference is mostly the control panel. Where we stand out is lower prices and higher bandwidth and advanced network services such as BGP and BYOIP (Bring Your Own IP range), this has been very popular with hobby and commercial anycast networks.

  • Hi Op, will the service automatically renew after 3 months? If so, is there a way to stop the automatic renewal, or can I cancel right after signing up without impacting the first quarter's service?

    • +3

Hey! It will auto renew if you don't do anything. If you know now that you will only want it for 3 months best to submit a cancellation after ordering with "End of Billing Period" selected. You can open a ticket before the 3 months is up if you do this but decide later you want to keep the service.

  • FYI your website can be accessed via http.

    • Hey, flowvps.com can be accessed as HTTP only you’re correct. This is not technically an issue because it’s just a static site where no data is passed through. I’ll get this fixed to redirect to HTTPS though.

billing.flowvps.com (where all the important stuff is) is HTTPS only.

Yes you are right, no information passes through http and a simple rewire in the .htacess file would fix it. HTTPS always looks better.

What CPU do the servers use?

    LowEndTalk thread when?

Also what happened with the MEL servers? https://dreamithost.com.au/vps-hosting is the way to go now for MEL, same location you were in

Melbourne is still going however on an older generation of hardware so nothing new is being sold there for the time being. Plan is to overhaul Melbourne within the first half of next year and start offering these same plans.

      • I must've missed it haha

Sounds good regarding Melb, would love to see some low spec deals (I mainly use it as a VPN for better routing)

  • Anyone familiar with these guys, why choose them when you can use EC2 or Vultr?

  • Yabs

    • +1

Hey, there is a LowEndTalk link a couple of posts up. There is a YABS test result posted by a customer in that thread. Let me know if you have any other questions.

      • cheers!
