Ice Machine/Ice Maker - anyone bought one for the home ?

  Ordered one of these from Amazon UK a couple of months ago. Makes nice icecream.

    I believe an ice CREAM maker is very different to an ice maker.
    But I too would be interested to hear peoples experiences with these cheap ice makers.

  bought a sunbeam eskimo icemaker under 200$ 4years ago still going .
  Slow to start 20 mins and ya have to keep water levels up.
  But effective but sometimes still go and just buy a bag of Ice.
  Yep have to say it keeps Pace but the ice is usually round hoops
  Bought it after using Ice Machines in Motels in the States
  Very Heavy Appliance for small size

  Bought one last year from Topbuy 3 month warranty, did not use for 7 months leaks like a tap - water everywhere, friend bought one same company never any problems was $149.00 delivered. Silver in colour 180 watt 18 kg per day ice. Good luck

  Bought one off eBay from a local supplier in Brisbane - no problems with it and useful enough but you need to keep an eye on the water level and put the made ice in the freezer as if you don't use it it just melts back into the water supply. The ice made is tubular and I think because of the increased surface area it seems to melt quicker than say an ice block from an ice tray. Overall though we're glad we got it

  another good way to do it is to fill old plastic bottles - milk, soft drink, water or anything - with water and leave them in your freezer. then you just smash them up when you want the ice. bit of effort, but cheap.
