Lorex Vs Reolink Vs Hilook

Hi all,

I am looking to get few security cams installed around my property and am very new to this.
Can someone help with suggesting the best ones to go with?
1. HiLook - Was recommended and quoted by a security installer.
2. Reolink - Seems to be OzB's favourite
3. Lorex - Officeworks has started stocking them fairly recently.

Searching online came up with this link - https://www.security.org/security-cameras/lorex-vs-reolink/ which I am unsure how accurate the information is.

Can someone with experience using the above cams provide suggestions on the best one to go with?

Edit: looking to hard wire them instead of going wireless.

Thanks

That article is describing completely different products and is therefore useless. The first thing you need to tell us is whether you need wireless or can spring for installing cables. Cables are always preferable due to no need to recharge the batteries. I have Reolink RLC-833A PoE cameras and they do everything I need them to at 4K.

    • Thank you. Looking for wired instead of wireless. Updated the post.

  • Lorex looks more expensive thank Reolink.

I am about to order 16 Cameras and an NVR Reolink system for $2k. Lorex looks more expensive and doesn't have a huge range of products compared to Reolink (based on a quick search, anyway).

Lorex belongs to the Dahua group , which makes great cameras , some say controversial like hikvision

Have a look at the https://ipcamtalk.com forum , lost of info there , especially in regards to camera resolution in relation to the sensor size.

Reolink cams are great in daytime , to get great night recordings you have to make sure there is enough light , otherwise you end up with a blurry mess .

check out this YouTube channel The Hook up , he tests all Reolink POE cams in this video :

    • What’s your recommendation for night time? Our street doesn’t have enough light in the night and a lot of thefts and breakins seem to be happening at night time or early before sunrise.

Couple with a bright sensor light?
        .

      • as nugs said , use sensor lights to illuminate the area ,
Reolink does POE floodlights which can be triggered but movement or if any camera gets triggered via routines .

Reolink also does floodlight cameras in the DUO range .

it just doesn't work too well if you just buy a lot of just one type of camera , the camera has to be suitable for the job, i.e. some with light , some maybe with IR , some with different lens length 2.8mm 4mm …. so you can frame the area you are trying to watch.

it pays to spend a little more time to work out the requirements.

      and HiLook belongs to Hikvision.
