  • Finally, I was bookmark the Starlink kit, when I receive perk email. It was still original price last night.

  • worth upgrading from round dish gen 1?

    • Faster speeds. The latest dish moves internally, so doesn't rotate like the gen2 does - not sure how gen 1 did that.

    • youll notice a speed inprovement over gen 1 yeah, about 3 x speeds on results ive seen on youtube etc. Saying that if your simply happy with your current dish and dont NEED the extra speed its not worth spending $300

  • This should be fixed somewhere on the roof, right?

    • +1

Ideally yes, but I had one on a table in the backyard until I could roof-mount it. If you download the Starlink app you can use your phone to check for any obstructions to the sky, which impacts uptime/performance.

If you buy from Starlink directly, you can use a referral link from OzBargain to get one month free ($139 to you and also the referrer gets a free month).

  • Do you need to signup for a plan instantly? I don't intend to use until April 2025. I know you can pause/cancel at any time..

    • +1

You can buy it now, and sign-up later, the purchasing process has nothing to do with the plan until you're ready to use it.

  • Is this likely the new RRP? Or how long do I have to pull the trigger at this price?

    • Just spoke with JB Hi-fi rep, "Price ends on the 12th October or until stocks last"

    • Definitely not the RRP, for a while there was no discounts besides first 30-days fee free, but that is obviously after paying the additional $300 for the Starlink at $599. Sometimes they do have promos for refurbished for $199, but again, it's short lived.

  • Wish to ask where does our internet traffic enter/exit through Starlink? Via Starlink data center in US, or somewhere else?
