  • 13.2kw in title, then 6.6kw in description? Am I missing something?

    • 13.2kw guys.

      • I'm not an expert, but would you need an inverter > 13.2kw to get the maxium from these panels? Does the 10KW inverter make sense for this package?

        • +1

Yes, 10kw inverter is the correct sized inverter.
We install1.33x inverter size to ensure maximum production of the inverter.

          • @KennySolar: I’ve heard of this (hilariously) being labeled “overclocking” the inverter.

            • +1

@WhyAmICommenting: Yeh ive got 4.2kw panels for 3.6kw inverter. Never seen over 3.2kw mid summer

              • @Koolchops: Yeah, panels are typically rated for a peak value. It'd be interesting if they standardised on something more like a total outpout for a typical day at a fixed oration.

        • That's perfectly normal.

        • +1

Very typical to have more kW of panels than the inverter is "rated" for.
You will only ever achieve the full kW panel output in ideal conditions for an hour or two in the middle of the day (and usually for only a few weeks each year).
The inverter can handle these short periods no problems and the rest of the time your panels won't be producing the maximum kW anyway.

The "norm" is to put about an extra 33% over the inverter rating. So if you have a 10kW inverter, then you would go to about 13.3kW of panels.

        • 13.2kw is likely peak output, i.e. on a sunny day. A lot of the day is suboptimal conditions, as is winter. So you'd want your panels over specked for the inverter.

Depending on your circumstances, some people orient their panels 'incorrectly' to get more sun for longer, or to fit more panels, etc rather than optimise the peak output. Really, it just depends on how you want your solar to work for you. Talk to your installer about this.

  • If it's 13.2kw I might take you up on the offer can you clarify what it is exactly?

    • Hi, 13.2kw system. First 20 systems.

      • And the cost after the first 20?

        • +1

          $6099? Haha

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: I want to know what the actual saving is. + want to know how long they have been operating for. + they advertise a 25-30 year warranty but if they stop operating- who do we approach for warranty on the parts/panels.

Also important to know who exactly is installing it. Alot of solar companies out there sub contracting to regular sparkys and then when something goes wrong, your left chasing people.

            • +1

              @siggy213: Hi Siggy,
Canadian Solar for the Panels & Sungrow for the inverter mate. These are manufacturer/product warranties.
Sungrow is the number 1 inverter manufacturer in the world hands down and Canadian solar are a huge reputable brand with a massive presence in Australia. (Listed on Nasdaq)

              Cheers

              • +6

@KennySolar: I don't think they answers the key questions

Who is installing it? Do you use your own staff or subcontractors

How long have you been operating

What is the price for this exact deal for the 21st -100th user.

It's an old sales tactic to create a sense of urgency, but people on ozbargain only by Ozito batteries urgently

  • Not from Sydney but if it is as said this is a good deal

  • @KennySolar Assuming a flat roof. How much roof space is required to install a 13.2KW system

    • +1

      Hi, about 80m2
The panels are 1.7m x 1m - we are happy to quote a smaller system if the roof space isn't available.

      Cheers

      • Thanks. Will look into it

  • -1

Any deals for Chinese made panels? Maybe about 6kw. I'm sorry if I offend anyone but they make the best panels (at least for your buck anyway). Get them before our government places tariffs at the behest of foreign interference.

    • +1

      Canadian Solar is Chinese.

      • -1

Oh. Really? How embarrassing. What a crap name then… Thanks for the info though.
Like Build Your Dreams (BYD), shit name but very good cars.

        • +1

Don't sweat it, I'm sure it surprised a lot of us - myself included. Despite the deceptive name they are decent panels for the cost.

          • +1

@ohgee: Similarly the inverter doesn't actually enlarge the sun. Also deceptive

        • BYD is actually a backronym it didn't initially stand for Build your dreams. If you want to talk about shit names Lexus stands for luxury exports to us but you don't hear people complaining about it

  • And a home battery. Got any home batteries? Maybe 10-20kwh? Or maybe wait until November for the govt rebates?

  • Bro can you supply a hybrid inverter for the same price and in NSW just next to Canberra? Suburb Tralee.

  • Sure can, SAJ single phase Hybrid. Yours for the same price. + $1000 Canberra tax
    Cheers

    • Why the tax?

      • It's to keep the pollies in business

      • +1

Canberra tradies charge considerably more than Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

  • How much for 10kw single phase ?

    • That's effectivity what this offer is. It's typical to over provision the panels to get the most from the inverter, in this case 13.2kw panels for a 10kw inverter. This helps make the most of the the available sunlight throughout the course of the day.

  • +1

Canadian Solar is a good brand.

Sungrow is a good middle tier brand with some good Battery tech + inverter linkage to the batteries.

    Seems like a good combo.

    • -1

Sungrow is middle tier? Its at the top alongside Fronius, SMA and Huawei

      • Really? I have been told different. I couldn't find independent sources either.
I want a Sungrow hybrid but worried about an apparent high frequency noise they emit.
Wish this deal was in SA… being quoted 50% more than this 🙁

      • Fronius is made in Austria. Absolutely nowhere near the same "tier" as those brands lol

        • Sungrow is 3% more efficient - has a far better warranty. Outsells fronius 6 to 1 in Europe and Australia now.
Same 10 year warranty but you don't need to take it off the wall and send it to Melbourne for testing.

          • @KennySolar: Thanks Kenny.
Do you have some independent links backing these facts?

  • How much for the 13.2kw panels and a Tesla PW3 or if you can’t supply the battery, then the panels installed without the inverter and I’ll source a company to install the battery while you’re here? For install/billing after 1st November when the NSW Solar Rebate kicks in? Wollongong Area

  • -1

I already have an old 3.3kw solar. Can you replace it with yours with 13.2kw and offer a lower cost?

  • +1

i paid double this about 2 years ago with a highly rated installer from solarquotes. a lot of my neighbours have been getting 13.3 kW systems for about the price on this deal.

could be copium, but we'll see if it was worth it when stuff starts breaking in a 10 years time. a lot of whirlpoolers have said it should be about $1k per kW and an installer is as important as the panels and inverter (again, copium?)
