ShopBack Bait and Switch Emails

Every few months I get the “ Up to 100% Cashback on Gift Cards” email from ShopBack. Despite the fact this email is for new customers only and I am not eligible for any of the offers in the email.

Does anyone get these every few months like me and how is this not the very definition of a bait and switch? Such a dodgy tactic.

Has the SB rep got anything to say about it?

  • Did you make multiple shopback accounts without remembering about it? These emails are typically only sent to accounts that have never purchased from the gift card portal.

I don't receive those 'new to Shopback' email promos, but on a relatives account they do.

They are so dodgy. Rep on here is full of it so i wouldn't bother, I only use cashrewards and topcashback now

  • Isn't this literally all promotions and deals?

"Get up to $3000 rebate on XYZ"
"Up to 15% off at Amazon"

T&C's then limit the rebate/bargain to only a few niche areas or annoying loopholes that don't make it worthwhile.

  • You have to understand that email marketing can get confusing af on the back end. And hiring someone that can make sense of the chaos costs $$$.

  • They got hacked a couple of years ago, a lot of this shit is phishing
