Original Coupon Deal

Needed a new fridge and decided to get this. 8-star energy efficiency with a supposed energy consumption of 155KWh/year. It's a fairly new model and there aren't really any reviews yet so it's hard to tell how reliable it will be. Seems like it has a poor handle position that you have to stoop to reach. Will be able to confirm this when it's delivered tomorrow.

Excludes: Adelaide Metro, NSW Regional, Northern Territory, QLD Far North, QLD Regional, QLD South East, SA Regional, Tasmania, VIC Regional, WA Regional, WA Remote

Was fridge shopping recently. Can confirm the poor handle position. Other than that specs wise looked great.

  • I was looking at this fridge as well but then decided to go with Hisense HRBM503E.

    • went with hisense 609L 4 door, was delivered on weekend, wanted 3rd zone for meat and haier didn’t have it. holding temp ok have thermometer in each zone freezer stays at -18, meat chiller at -2 to 0, and fridge between 3-4c though set at 4c came with 3 year
      parts and labour warranty.

  • The HRF420BHC with the water cooler is also $944 delivered. Only 5.5 stars though, so will be an extra $30 a year or so to run (254kw/year instead of 155kw/year, about $30 at $0.30/kw).

    • running costs didn’t worry me much when fridge shopping as i wanted a big fridge and they use more energy due to volume. only way i can see improvements is insulation as they are all, just lined with polystyrene foam and maybe some have more foam than others.

I have the one with the water cooler. Took me a few weeks to realise the handle was at the bottom of the fridge door. I just grab it from the top anyway and its fine, you don't need to use the handle at all

  • Excellent find OP. I have been looking at the lower energy rated Hisense and this for the last few months waiting for a deal.

As others have commented, recommend checking instore first as the handle position is not intuitive or positioned in a way that if you are using the fridge multiple times a day it may be a chore.

The discount is quite significant though.

I have this unit, from the GGuys. Not 100% happy with it's performance ; problem I have is the ' temp pull down' ie put the shopping away in the fridge or freezer and stuff like the ice cream takes way too long to freeze solid again. Same happens if I open and close fridge or freezer door too often in a short time. Stuff in the freezer softens . I have to operate the unit on ' fast chill' permanently. I am in Far Nth Qld but I don't think that's an excuse . I have discussed with Haeir but not to my satisfaction. Would not recommend.

    • my old sharp fridge used to have cold exterior on doors, drilled a couple of holes inside doors and filled with expanding foam … worked better, was 25 year old fridge so experimenting is less concern than on a new fridge under warranty. waiting for a fridge to be collected by council, should do a tear-down and see how well made it is insulation wise. And they complain about plastic bags in landfill …i’d hate to know the amount of landfill fridges make up based on amount of foam inside.

Wonder if Haier has fixed their shit design drainage tube for defrosting? They block up so easily, resulting in water leaking onto the floor under the fridge.

  • Also needed a washing machine and grabbed a Bosch Series 8 WGG24401AU 9kg for $1158 with the same coupon: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/276543720830
