Latitude 28 Degrees - Payment Made but Not Available to Spend

"So, here’s a fun riddle: if I make a payment on Monday, it shows up as paid, the money disappears from my other account, and it’s now Wednesday—why can’t I spend it yet?

Spoiler alert: it's not available until Friday. But wait, there’s more! The chat support bot was apparently taking a break during work hours (because why not), and when I finally connected with customer service, I got sent to India for a lesson in the art of waiting.

The rep tells me, ‘Oh, it’ll take 6 business days for your money to magically appear.’ When I pointed out it normally takes 2-3 days (give or take a memory lapse), she tells me to check back tomorrow or the day after. Delightful, right?

Cue the supervisor—same spiel, but he says 3 business days. So, naturally, I point out that today is day 3, but apparently, the clock starts when they feel like it, he says he counts the business day starting from tuesday and 3 days is thursday but the money will show up on friday.

And as for why the chat service was 'closed' at 11:30 a.m.? Rep 1 said they prefer to give 'personalized service' over the phone (lol), and the supervisor? He just shrugged it off with a ‘that’s not my department’—even though he’s from 'online.' Isn't chat also online??

Am I the only one who feels like Latitude is just trying to test my patience (or going under)?! Anyway, anyone else made a payment that’s vanished into the Bermuda Triangle of banking before it’s ‘available to spend’? Or is it just me living this dream?"

Nah they definitely been going downhill for ages. If it wasn’t for grandfathered price protection I’d drop them in no time.

    • i only got this 2 years ago, the only thing i was using it was for overseas online purchase, subscription and travel overseas because i do it quite often, at least twice a year if not more. But i don't why i need to stay with them since they are getting worst. Any suggestion for a good no foreign ex, no fee card like it used to be?

      • I use up bank for the suss overseas transactions (it’s not a credit card) - no fees

It always takes them about 3 days to show up in your account.

    • it's day 4 today (Business days) and the funds aren't still available. Is that normal ?

      • +1

        Probably

I closed my account with them the other day…

    • Hi Jv, I want to get a few hundred into my account asap. What is the fastest way? Would bpay be faster than service centre?

      • +1

No idea, it always took me several days… It was very frustrating.

        • Ok paying the 1.95 fee by bpay is quickest. I think I transferred Thursday night and it is available to spend Saturday morning. The service centre payment on Wednesday is still not available.

They're probably too busy closing accounts.

    • well, after this saga i don't really have a good feeling about them. I might close mine as well and sell the Latitude Shares even though i have lost more than half the money ( better to lose half then all of it i guess).

    So, here’s a fun riddle

No riddle, it takes time for them to 'clear' the funds. They report the funds instantly, but they are not cleared funds. You can only spend clear funds.

Otherwise you can make a fake payment of $20k, rush out and spend the money before it bounces.

  • Really, takes 4 days to clear the fund in this day and age. It's 2024 not 1999.I believe they do this deliberately to use thousands of customers money for days, lol

    • How did you pay?
If Bpay, if you made the payment before your bank's BPay cutoff/processing time for the day, the payment should be marked as received on that day when they are finally done processing it, however many days later. i.e. so you won't be liable for interest, etc.

      • I used my bank debit option

    • You've got to have 0 balance to not get shoppers protection fee right? It sucks when it takes 3-4 days for a payment to go from pending to finalised. And then another 3-4 days for your payment to land and the balance to go back to 0. It's a feature not a bug I think. I always try not to make any purchases in the week leading up to my statement being issued.

  • Happened to me too, it won't let me close the account until available funds goes back up even though current balance is $0

    • exactly, they're just annoying more customers .

  • Update: Day 5, friday 13th Sept, finally the amount is available to use.

    • Can k in ask what method you used to make this payment?

      • From my bank, the make payment option.

  • Yep the payments are definitely taking longer to process these days. It used to be 3 days max. I was overseas and had to deal with their call centre on day 4 trying to get the funds available as I had a car hire deposit to pay 2 days after and if it wasn't going to go through I would need another option immediately.
