      looks at Anbernic

  • They really don't want to name the CPU do they? It's a Snapdragon 865. And why Android 10 on the mini?

    • They really don't want to name the CPU do they? It's a Snapdragon 865

They show it in the product images, but doesn't specifically mention it in the specs.

And why Android 10 on the mini?

Both originally had Android 10, but after community outage they upgraded the RP5 to Android 13 and 8GB RAM (also increasing the initial RRP). (Source: Retroid Twitter)

Apparently it cause the SD865 doesn't officially support Android 13 and A10 was the 'better option' for the hardware. (Reddit Post)

      • 2020 CPU. I wonder if Qualcomm really will support it until 2025. They probably got a heap of them cheap.

  • I'm waiting for the flip 2 🤞

  • Sooooooooooooooooo…
    Any of y'all pre ordered?

  • Seriously considering this one after seeing review from RetroGameCorps on YT.

  • I preordered black. Along with the case and dock.

    RP5 arrives today 🎉

    • How is it?

I ordered one (exactly the same as you ie black with the case and dock) just over 2 weeks ago. Got order confirmation but that's it - it hasn't shipped yet. I guess that was just after launch (I waited to see a few reviews and videos etc before deciding to order) so there's probably a backlog, but they've given no indication of how long the wait might be.

I was hoping to get it in time to be able to mess around setting it up during the Christmas / New Year break, but looking pretty doubtful at this point.

        There is a delivery dashboard… https://www.goretroid.com/pages/delivery-dashboard
Orders placed before December 5th with DHL shipping and Orders placed before November 30th with 4PX shipping are expected to arrive before Christmas.
There has been a lot of discussion in the Retroid discord about delivery dates etc. but it is moving along.

Overall, I am super happy with the device. The screen is just amazingly crisp, bright, and full of colour. I am probably 80% complete in organising and configuring it how I want it. I mostly just followed Retro Game Corps RP4 set up guide, and the ES-DE setup guide. I got a Samsung Pro 512GB card in it, and it's basically full. I haven't tried the dock yet.

        • Ah ok, I ordered 24/11 with 4PX, so maybe there's still hope!

        • Just got the notification this morning that it has shipped. Will be a race against time to get here by xmas, though!

          • @AngusD: Should be getting close to delivered by now

@SueyJitSu: I was thinking the same… just checked the tracking and as of yesterday it's in Hong Kong. That's after spending the last 3 days sitting there doing nothing in DongGuan. So who knows… doesn't seem to be in a hurry :P But at least it's on the way… presumably if it doesn't arrive before xmas it should be pretty soon afterwards so hopefully I'll still have some of my holidays to spend setting it up.

            • @SueyJitSu: I think it may have arrived in Australia yesterday. I had this weird delivery notification come up in the AusPost app saying there was a package coming from "Vincent XP". I had no idea what "Vincent XP" is, Google search didn't help, at first I thought it was some kind of brushing scam or something. But then I checked the tracking on the link Retroid sent me and it showed it arriving in Australia right at the same time this weird delivery showed up in the AusPost app, so I'm guessing that's it.

              • @AngusD: Haha great stuff!
Get your SD card ready! Haha

                • @SueyJitSu: Already done, got a 1TB Samsung in the black friday sales :D

                • @SueyJitSu: Been stuck on "label created by sender" status for 2 days now, so I guess it'll miss the AusPost xmas cut off after all :(
