Grant Burge Barossa Ink Shiraz 1.5L Bagnum: Minimum Purchase 6 for $138 ($23 Each, Was $35) @ Cellar One (Membership Required)

100

Yeah yeah…only plebs drink from bagnums….Bottles are more classy…etc.

However, these are great for music festivals, camping or events/occasions where glass/bottles are not allowed.

This is quite a good drop. Bagnums are selling at Dan's for $32.99 and $18.99 for bottles. $4.01 more and you get an extra 750ml. Pour it in a decanter before your guests arrive and none would be the wiser.

This case contains 6 x 1.5L bagnums
PALATE - An opulent and intense wine, showcasing a concentrated palate of jammy dark fruits. The wine coats the mouth with fine tannins and is a well-balanced wine with great length of flavour.
COLOUR - Deep inky purple
NOSE - Aromas of lifted blackberry fruits and sweet oak spice
PEAK DRINKING Now - 2026
FOOD MATCH - Rich savoury dishes or mild spiced curry dishes, perfect for picnics or BBQs.

There is also a special on the St Hallett Faith Shiraz Bagnums 1.5L Bagnums $23 (down from $40) , but I haven't tried this.

What a way to make a wine less classy. I actually like this drop, wasn't aware it was considered goon bag quality

Yes and no. Read up about it, but wine makers actually prefer it. "Bagnums" are a better way to store wine long term, and are a lot cheaper and more environmentally friendly.

      • @Rail Rider95 don’t necessarily believe the marketing.
Wine will age longer in bottle than in this format.
Some environmental benefits versus glass but it is still a single use plastic product.
Cost of a magnum bottle versus a Bagnum - bottle is cheaper.
One upside though, once open the wine will keep for 3 weeks.
        Cheers! RD :-)

        • Correct. The bagnums only have a 12 month shelf life.
But being able to keep them open for 3-4 weeks and stay fresh is a big bonus.
All aside from the metal lined plastic, environmental cost/benefits.

This isn't a real "goon bag" many good wines are coming in these now, just like red wine coming in cans now.
A few years ago we all hated it when corks were swapped out for screw caps, but that's how it is now with Aussie wines and many bottles around the world (no reflection on the quality of wine) :)

The goon bag is being gentrified.

Glad I grabbed a bottle of this before pulling the trigger on the goonbags. Not my taste at all. Too sweet. Back to the Grange.

  • I bought the St Hallett Faith ones and they are great. Really like the convenience and the quality is great.
