Mid Range TV and Audio Combo

We've recently set up our spare room as a media/gaming room, and the only thing missing is the TV and audio setup. Now I'm not much of a TV expert and even less of a sound expert, so top of line gear would be wasted on me. But given the purpose of the room, I also don't want to go to the bottom of the barrel (as I previously have).

So I'm after recommendations a good value midrange TV and audio setup. Due to limitations of the space, the TV needs to be 50-55". Ideally, I'd like to spend no more than $1.2k for both. The only other caveat is that I'd prefer to avoid TCL TVs, as my family have 4 of them between them, and all 4 have had various issues.

  • What about some open backed wireless headphones. It'll sound good and you'll be able to hear people talking to you.

    • The very first word in OP's post suggests that more than one person will want to listen to the TV at the same time.

But other than that, yes, good headphones can be a lot better than TV audio and bad soundbars.

  • +1

    TV $977 soundbar+sub $269 = $1,246. If you can't cash flow the $46 there are many cheaper 55-inch TVs

  • I'd probably try to get a 55" oled. LG B1 has been on sale for a little more than your budget.
