excellent buds when no bugs. been using them for the last 6 months.
This or the Sony Wf-1000xm5?
depends on personal comfy zone.
having previous model QCII, Lost in LA airport, bought Sony MX5 after. mainly use for travel.
Personal feeling when comparing both.comfy wise, QCII. feels more secure but having a bit of weight makes your ear sorted after 2-3 hours continuous use. MX5 keeps falling off, for every day commuter, sony will be the one if that fit your ear.
Noise cancelling, both are good, but QCII feels a bit better. almost complete quite environment for better sleep during long flight.
sound quality, Sony. QCII was very good after adjust EQ.
phone call, Sony seem a bit better.I bought the XM5's and had sound issues with them.
Individual sides cutting out and the noise cancelling not working on me.
Wasnt a fan of the app either.Eventually returned them and got these and im so happy I did haha
Even better as of past month as they added enabled multi-point via firmware update.
I've been watching these for ages, glad they introduced multi-point BT. Read a lot of comments about 'hissing' in left bud in particular, have you noticed anything or is this just normal expected background noise with ANC when nothing is playing?
QCII has that, but hardly notice when you have music/sound.
most of time happen when taking out from case. then can't hear that when starting music.
only 6 hours? 😶
Having tried both the previous model of these, QC II and Sony XM5, here are some inputs.
QC II
Pros: Sound cancellation, secure fit, bassy sound (if you're into that), easy to use App (not necessary for pairing, only adjusting EQ and settings).
Cons: Battery life (7-8 with buds), Sound quality needing adjustments in EQ, no multipoint BT, No Wireless chargingSony XM5
Pros: Better drivers and sound out of the box, multipoint BT pairing, battery life (8-9 with buds), wireless charging, smaller and lighter buds and case, memory foam tips
Cons: Sound cancellation, prone to fall out, intrusive media controls (personally was the make or break, had to hold for longer and tap 5 times for volume), required app to pair.Hopefully this helps someone make their decision.
Just wanted to clarify, when you said the sony earbuds cons is sound cancellation, is it almost non existent or just relatively worse vs the bose?
I personally prefer wireless charging if possible but if the main draw (ANC) is just crap then i might have to go with the bose.
Comparable to the Bose QC II (not the Ultras), the sound cancellation on the Sony XM5 was a smidgen off in the higher pitch frequency range. This can be your bus/car engine whine, beeps of scanning devices and the piston doors on public buses.
Of course, could be down to various factors, such as the seal of the buds, situational awareness, and different hearing range.
Yet, this is all I've gathered regarding the two buds.
YMMV.if ANC is the main concern, pick Bose for sure, the QCII has better ANC than MX5 during long flights. even just turn on ANC without playing anything.
once ultra price comes down, will buy another set of QC.
Quality earbuds.
Great sound quality and the noise cancellation is great too.
