Warranty Query- Phone with Skin

A real quick one for anyone that may have a bit of knowledge in the area, I had to warranty my Pixel 7 Pro because of a software issue that killed the primary microphone (mic 1). This was warrantied through JB Hi-Fi under the manufacturers warranty. Upon inspection they (authorized repairer) immediately sent a different refurbished replacement to JB Hi-Fi which then told me they had a like new refurbished model for me to collect.

My small issue is that my original Pixel 7 Pro had a D-Brand real brown leather skin on the back that helped protect it, I asked JB Hi-Fi which told me to take it up with Google, Upon talking to Google they told me to take it up with the authorized repairer and the repairer is claiming that I have to talk to the manufacturer.

Is there a clause I can use to get any of them to get me a new skin? or am I SOL? Wouldn't be a huge issue but those damn skins are expensive, Also am minus a screen protector but aliexpress is cheap for those.

Accessories you provide are not part of the warranty or their responsibility to replace.

You seriously sent your phone away with the phone case?

It’s a skin, not a case. I don’t think you can take it off without destroying it

    • Dbrand skin ≠ case

      It's an expensive sticker, essentially.

      • The issue is still the same.

  • Could you not have removed it before sending in? (I'm not familiar with dbrand)

    • It's a skin so if you remove it you'll inevitably damage it. It'll be stretched, less sticky, etc.

      • Cheers, Guess there is a reason to not buy DBrand skins. Will just stick to my unicorn beetle case and buy a lens protector on aliexpress.

  • It's not the manufacturer / repairer responsibility to handle your applied accessory. Buy a new one to use with the replacement handset.

  • "Warranty" is a verb now?

    • Haha, you know what I mean. Couldn't think of the correct term at the time. Had to request for return merchandise authorization so my phone can be seen to under the manufacturer warranty by a third party authorized repairer to determine a repair, refund or replacement.

  • Take it as learning.
