6 Weeks Free Health Insurance after 1 Month (Signup Benefit) + 7 Weeks Free (COVID-19 Benefit, Credited from 30/9) @ Frank

1210

Thanking and credit to @machej and @skye89 as I discovered this deal via the Gmbha offer.
Sign up by 20th September, pay one month and you will get 6 weeks free +7 more weeks with the covid offer https://www.frankhealthinsurance.com.au/media-centre/covid-p…

I think Frank offers more money back for the extra, but might be more expensive.

Compare both and work out which one is better.

For me Gmbha is slightly cheaper so I went with them as fitted my needs.

T & C:

*For new members who have not been a member during the last 12 months, joining on combined hospital and extras cover, paying by direct debit. Must pay first month to receive six weeks free. Other waits (including hospital waits), annual and sub limits apply. Extras claims made with a previous fund count towards annual limits. Not available with any other offer or Frank OVHC. Offer ends 20 September 2024.

Edit 13/9: Who is eligible for the return of COVID-19 claims savings in 2024?
To qualify for the upcoming return of COVID-19 claims savings, Frank members* need to hold an active private health insurance resident policy on 13 September 2024 and remain active on 30 September 2024.

You hit the jackpot, as started earlier and 13th was the last day.

    • Fri the 13th turned out to be a lucky one hey

      • Plot twist. I had mistyped one digit of my direct debit so the payment wasn't taken and as a result, i got an email today saying I'm not coveted l covered.

I had already corrected the payment details yesterday.

:| i just paid now but they certainly were quick to discontinue the cover without notifying me earlier.

Even when i get lucky, maybe i will be unlucky and this disqualifies me. Not sure.

        • I messaged Frank yesterday and explained that I saw this offer on their website 2 weeks ago and went to sign up today and noticed that the terms were back dated from 20th to the 13th sept. He asked his supervisor and they honoured the original terms and conditions. Call them and tell them your situation. I am sure they will have compassion.

  • I missed out

  • +3

Not cool of GMHBA to silently change the published terms.

Instead, it should have clearly specified the terms and conditions that applied between specified dates.

    • Yes, it's very sneaky of them.

      • It's a huge ask, but I wonder if anyone had a screenshot of the previous published terms…

  • bag of dicks.

was pushing medibank to hurry up w $500 of vouchers, and this landed today. and was about to switch.

    BUMMMMER

  • Just received an email advising of 7 weeks free.. took the insurance on 13 Sep night…
    Thanks OP..

Hope will receive the 6 weeks free email soon…

    • Same here, signed up 13th Sept night but no e-mail on 7 weeks free yet, just one that came through reminding to sign up to member area…🤷‍♂️

    • Got the 6 weeks free email as well …

      • Received 6 weeks free e-mail as well, a week after the initial welcome e-mail on 13th (which is my sign up date)

        • Did you end up getting the 7 weeks free email?

          • @Ckanna: Oh not yet, just the 6 weeks one. I'm guessing the 7 weeks one will come through after 30th Sept?

          • @Ckanna: I have contacted Frank Health this afternoon asking about a date as to when 7 weeks free will be applied?

Their response was- It will be applied most likely by mid-Nov. Rep mentioned that it’s taking longer than what was initially planned as it was never meant for the new memberships, but they are honouring it by manually adjusting it. So have to wait for another few weeks..

            • @Ckanna:

it was never meant for the new memberships

Rubbish. GMHBA and Frank set the terms of the offer and should have anticipated that the terms would provide sufficient incentive to encourage new joins.

              • @YesPleaseThankYou: Agree.

Looks like they haven’t accounted the impact once a deal ends up in OzB :-)

            • -1

@Ckanna: They are anticipating that people will use free weeks and run so they are trying to milk us. Submit a complaint to PHI ombidsman.
Ive also asked for a compensation of a few thousand as its caused me "mental stress" lol. Might need to go see a psycologist and make up some bullshit haha

              • @easternculture: Rep mentioned that they will honour the deal,, agree it’s bit frustrating as they were supposed to adjust from 30 Sep.. but given 6 weeks free also kicked in as of now I didn’t pay more than the initial monthly premium. If they charge the premium prior to applying 7 weeks free, then definitely will be complaining..

            • @Ckanna: 7 weeks free applied to my account.

  • Damn it, I had a reminder set for today. I intentionally waited as my son had a minor operation yesterday which was claimed on private health. Looks like I'll need to call them and discuss.

    • You still could have switched when you first saw the offer as, provided you selected an equivalent level of cover, your waiting periods would have transferred across.

Of course, you would also have needed to check whether the hospital and surgeon have arrangements with Frank.

  • small company with small minds. If they don't honor it i am moving right after the 6 weeks.

  • +1

Its 1st Oct today and yet i haven't received any email confirming 7 weeks free offer. I did get one with 6 weeks free. Noting some of the other members have already got their emails it makes me slightly worried. Anybody else in the same boat?

    • I got no emails about any of the offer. I’m going to see what happens after I paid the 4 weeks, and I’ll contact them if not showing 6+7 free

    • yeah see my comment separately below, if you had joined on or before 11:59pm on the 13th of Sept, you were eligible, though I did specify that my policy start date as the 18th but wouldve adjusted it to the 13th had i known they moved the goal posts to the 13th so your mile vary. best to call up and check

      • +1

I had raised a query through the frank app, and got a reply that i am eligible and the 7 weeks would be applied to my policy in the coming days (not sure when 🤔). So at least they have confirmed it.

        • Thats great! I think theyre honouring it

      • Same boat here- I joined before 11.59pm on 13th Sept for immediate start, have received e-mail for 6 weeks free but not the 7 weeks.

Logged into my account and it says I'm paid till 23/11, although next payment date on 13/11? I'll give another week or so before following up on the 7 weeks free eligibility.

  • I just called them to confirm as I had joined on the 13th but my policy start date was the 18th and they said I was eligible for the 7 weeks promo, though as i was a new joiner the application of the 7 weeks was at a 'later date', they couldn't specify when and the application of the 7 weeks promo for existing members begun on the 30th of Sept. Stupidly I forgot to ask for email confirmation so hoping that it does go through

    • That’s what I’m hoping too. I signed before they changed terms and conditions but my start date was 20th September.

      • Give them a call and tell them that, they'll check your 'sign up' date and time and will confirm with their customer accounts team or something and they'll probably advise you the same thing they told me, just ask if they can email you the confirmation as thats something i didnt do and see what they say

Check ur app also to see when it says ur next payment is. Mine says 26th Nov.

    • Just check my app. I joined on 28/08, Frank took 3 payments (6 weeks) and my next payment will be 7th January 2025.

  • +1

Signed up on the 11th to start cover on 16th. Messaged them on webchat and was told I applied very close to the cut off date but based on the eligibility criteria I "should" receive the 7weeks. But will be processed later this month as they're processing existing members first.

    • so you mean processed by end of october?

  • +1

Saw this update today when I checked the COVD benefits page (https://www.frankhealthinsurance.com.au/help/members/returno…):
Eligible members who were active on 1 September 2024 have had their paid-to date moved forward by 7 weeks on 30 September 2024.
New members who joined Frank or reactivated their policy after 1 September 2024, and met the eligibility criteria for the 7-week contribution, will have this applied to their membership in the coming weeks. We will communicate further details with these members once the contribution has been made.

So some more wait time for others who haven't got the 7 weeks applied yet.

  • I got this response when I emailed them. Not happy at all as they changed the terms after I had already signed up. I am going to complain. I signed up on 11/9 to start on 20/9 and it was too late in the day when I noticed they changed terms and conditions.

"Thank you for reaching out. I can confirm that the 6 weeks free when joining has been added to your policy, however you are not eligible for the COVID Return of Surplus 7 weeks. Your joining date was 20/09/2024, this was after the cut off. If there is anything else we can assist with, please let us know. Kind regards Liz.

Just submitted a complaint to commonwealth ombudsman re Frank and asked for a decent compensation due to the incomptencies of their process amd lack of any formal communication re delay.

    To date (approx 6 weeks):
    - no free months
    - no covid payment
    - they havent applied transfer certificates
    - they havent communicated re delay of application of free months and covid benefit

    • Sorry about what you are going through. I might have to follow as well with GMBHA. I have paid for 1 month but still no free weeks. When I contacted them today they said I needed to pay for 5 weeks which make no sense. I have just sent them a message to ask to apply the free weeks. Let's see how that goes. If no luck I will need to also file a complaint. They are utter garbage.

    • That's certainly very poor.

How did you go with the internal complaints process?

      • -2

I called. Expressed my dissapointment about the process and that it was poor form as they are messing around with peoples health. I asked for the CSR to file an official complaint. She said she would do so and email me a reference number. Its been about a week and no other correspondence from them.

They could of at least sent out an email communication explaining the delay but negative as if they dont care at all

        • Not great at all. Communication is key.

          • @YesPleaseThankYou: So free 13 weeks will be applied 30 days post signup and money refunded back to my account

            • @easternculture: Sorry, how is that different to everyone else? Are you getting that first month's premium refunded?

I'm now on the lookout for offers in December to move to after Territory Health Fund.

  • Has anyone else not received the covid weeks yet? The joining weeks were applied quickly for me but no mention of the covid weeks yet.
Edit after reading more comments, I am confused now if I am eligible. I joined 9.9 but cover is showing 10.9

    • +2

You are included. Anyone who joined before 13.9. Contact them and ask to apply the weeks. My free 6 weeks were applied but not the Covid ones. I just sent them another message yesterday and hopefully they’ll push them through

    • +3

I joined right on 13/9- received 6 weeks free and was told my 7 weeks free will kick in end October.

  • +1

I signed up 8/9 for cover starting on 18/9.
I have received my 6 weeks sign up offer but not the 7 weeks one yet. Have confirmed via livechat that I am eligible. It doesn’t look like anyone on here has actually received the 7 weeks yet?

    • Some people have received both. Not me though

  • +3

Just received the 7weeks. Check ur app now.

    • OMG thank you got it as well :) soooo happy

    • Nice one - mine have been applied too :)

    • Got my 7 weeks email today. So happy finally it has been applied.

      • I just received email today getting the 7 weeks after being confirmed for 6 wks so yep got 13 total free!

      • Same here, e-mail received yesterday on the 7 weeks!

  • I joined on the 19th, signup AND start date

they initially said i wasnt entitled to the 7 weeks covid rebate.

I said I signed up, and the advertising stated that If i was a member at 20 sept, and still a member on 30 sept I would be eligible. I will raise a complanit with insurance ombudsman if declined.

Received confirmation today that its approved and being processed, and end of month should be applied.

    woooop!

    • they initially said i wasnt entitled to the 7 weeks covid rebate

Why? That's wholly within what was advertised.

I will raise a complaint with insurance ombudsman if declined.

      Good!

Received confirmation today that its approved and being processed

      Excellent!
