    Very happy with mine.

    Charger and case included!

    Ridiculously fast charging.

    Average battery life on 5G.

Curved screen is more nuisance than handy.

    Chop chop twist twist. IYKYK.

    • +19

I was very keen on buying this till you mentioned curved screen.

    • +9

What the heck is chop chop twist twist?

/me pulls out my moto g84(first time moto owner) and started chopping and twisting with it.

      :O

      • +3

IYKYK (had to look this up myself lol).

      • +1

I new about the chop.. but just tried the twist lol

    • +1

TIL about twist twist on my g84

    • +1

Chop for light but what does the twist do ?

    • -2

I can redic fast charge my phone but I don't like it.

Some new high end chargers themselves can charge limit your phone when it gets too hot, which will cause reduced battery life.

Slow charge is best unless you aren't organised and need a quick boost.

      • when the charger gets too hot?

        • -2

          The phone battery.

          • +1

@Budju: How does the charger know the temperature of the phone battery?

            • -2

@ripprind: The gan chargers from Anker claim to have that technology with ActiveShield.

              • +1

@Budju: ok, this was a red flag for me and didn't sound plausible.
After a quick google, I couldn't figure out how could Anker monitor the phone temperature (unless on a wireless charging pad).
And it seems it doesn't. On their website, the language is deliberately vague imo, and they never say they actually monitor the phone temp.
My guess is they are monitoring their own charger for overheating, and with throttle the output accordingly.

                • -4

@ripprind: I find it plausible to the degree that certain phone models could conceivably communicate with a charger if both companies agreed to setup that technology. I haven't done a deep dive on whether it's just total lies, as you seem to be claiming it might be. My Pixel 7 self regulates if the charging time is within certain parameters, e.g. I put the phone on charge at 10 PM it will slow charge to align with my alarm timer. If I put the phone on charge early in the day it boosts so fast that I feel it damages the battery, because I can feel it get very hot by 50% and I will take it off for a while.

                  Remove your neg vote.

                  • +1

@Budju: I dont think its total lies because Anker never actually says they monitor the phone temperature.
Its depressing to watch/read the reviews though. Everything I found with a quick search seem to be just plain advertising cosplaying as reviews since none of them seemed to understand that phone temperature isn't monitored.

                  • @Budju: what neg vote?

                    • -3

                      @ripprind: Don't neg me bro.

                      • @Budju: Is this a meme? I dont get it 😐

                        • -3

@ripprind: At this point, your second neg is becoming a meme. Fast charging diminishes battery life. Refute it, or stop negging me.

                          • @Budju: My second "neg" on what? What do you mean by "neg"? I thought you meant a negative vote by "neg" but since I have not downvoted you I'm not sure what we are talking about 🤔

                            • -6

@ripprind: Let's just put it like this. If you could please stop negging me, I would be greatly appreciative.

USB PD allows for devices to request an increase or decrease in voltage, and current. There's no exchange of "my battery is too hot". The onboard charger (i.e. built into your phone) has a thermocouple that may cause a reduction in charge current if it gets too hot, but that's for your phone to decide, not the power supply "charger" you plug into the wall.
A responsibly designed USB PD power supply will be monitoring the mosfet and plug temperatures. That's what Anker does.

68w is far too much to dump into a small lipo battery. A rough calculation indicates that's about 4C.. With the average phone thermal design, it'll cook the battery. I would probably run it on a 15w charger if I wanted it to last more than ~12-18 months.

      • +1

I have two charging cables for this exact reason. One of them won't support fast charging and I use it overnight. The other cable is fast for when I need it boosted.

    • +2

These movements should be standard on android.

I told my daughter about the chop and twist and lol she can't stop with it.

      • +1

You can also double tap the back of the phone to open whatever app you want. I use it for Google Pay.

    • +3

Chop chop is a god damn game changer, and I've used it every day since I bought the g84, this needs to be base android feature.

Not sure if I'll use twist twist as much.

    • Switches to a pixel 8a recently which is great, albeit worse value, but Christ do I miss chop chop.

    • don't care about double twist but chop chop is awesome

  • +3

Solid spec but its almost 2 years old and there doesn't seem to be any future updates to android 15. For the price I guess its difficult to complain.

  • +1

how does this compare to the ozbargain favourite

    • +3

I'd say it is better than G84 for 300 but maybe G54 for sub 200 is still a better value for money (with Esim)
Depends on what you are after

    • +2

The OZbargain favourite can not compete not even close. This is miles ahead.
The only thing that the G54 has it is the low price

      • +10

        Esim

        • esim wins hands down, i cant believe this does not support esim

        • What's so good about esim?

      • +23

The only thing that the G54 has it is the low price

        +Memory card slot
        +3.5mm jack

  • +1

Would not say it is really flagship…
Even in 30 series (which is a previous generation already about 1.5-2 years old) is is not the top model.
Also RRP is not actual, could be at the time of the launch. So comparison with it is a bit misleading
But yeah, not a bad price either.

    • Would not say it is really flagship…

      Who said anything about flagship?

      • Probably the description has been updated :)

  • Snapdragon 888+ fabbed by Samsung or TSMC?

    • 888+ is Samsung 5LPE (5 nm).

      • +3

Prefer any chips fabbed by TSMC. Samsung makes excellent phones but SOC need working to catch up to TSMC.
Let's see what 2025 Galaxy S25 presents. ONE Ui is a massive improvement over touch wiz days. I like the ONE Ui interface.

  • +2

A $900 phone just under 2 years old with solid specs and then no esim, Im too armature to understand Moto's solution engineering team.

  • did they just up the price to $325 just now?

    • +2

Nah, you didn't see the code, I guess

    • +1

      The code brings it down.

  • +1

Do keep in mind it will probably get the android 14 update sometime this month (almost one year late) and probobably never get another major update

    • Still better than the Android 13 G82

  • +4

have this phone. picked it up from an old deal. very happy with it. fast charging has been good. There are some bluetooth audio issues but the Motorola gestures are actually helpful. Shaking the phone twice for the light to come on is awesome I use it every night after turning off all other lights in the house. Or even walking late at night.

  • The Amazon OnePlus 9 pro 128gb/8gb @ $335 was a better deal. Same kind of specs, better cameras and better fast charging.

  • I bought this last year and it a solid phone no troubles, still fast, slim, curve display, it does heat up. 8/10

  • +1

    Snapdragon 888, a portable heater?

    • yeah my xiaomi mi 11i 5g sure does love being warm and battery dying super quickly the moment i go outside !

  • FUSION 50 is only $472 on catch.

    • +1

Great price. Not sure if it's Australian stock.
Description has 100% Australia Official Seller, Warranty, Fast Dispatch.
Seller is Vchain Global Ecommerce LTD. (Shipped from Overseas) with 87.1% Seller Score.

    • +1

no warranty its from oversea and seller posts within 5 days which is quiet a long time.

  • Hos the camera in this device? Any idea?

    • I know the Edge 20 camera is pretty bad

  • +1

Would people recommend this or the moto g85 for ~$350?

    • +2

Where do you get the g85 for $~350?

  • How is the camera like? Any good comparing to Google Pixel 9?

  • eBay is showing me my $5 monthly coupon instead of the big sale coupons.

    So annoying.

    • +1

This coupon doesn’t show up at all

  • Software support on this phone?

    • Finished. Will not get android 15

      • How can such a recent phone end so quick

        • Only IPhone, Google Pixel and Samsung S phones have long software update policies stretching past 5 to 6 years. This is only true for flagships and not budget lines though, for eg Galaxy A series are 4 years max for security updates and 3 years for OS updates.

This Edge 30 came out at a time when Motorola was only committed to 3 years worth of updates. After releasing Edge 40 they promised 4 years so that they can be more competitive with the other brands.

          https://www.androidauthority.com/phone-update-policies-16586…

  • Is the camera better on this then the G84?

  • Man, even cheaper/budget phones are beginning to surpass mine (S20 FE 5G - Snapdragon 865 w/ 6GB/128GB)… Maybe it is time for an upgrade :D
