LG Series 5 Washing Machine Yes or No?

I’m about to buy a new front loader washing machine and are thinking about getting the 9kg LG Series 5 (WV5-1409W).

Has anyone used this model before, and if so, how has it worked out for you?

Thank you.

  • Literally made a decision on a washing machine 30 minutes ago.

    I was comparing 8.5Kg CHiQ WFL85PL48W1 and 9Kg LG WV5-1409W.

I went with CHiQ for these reasons:

    • $540 at AppliancesOnline vs $698 for LG.
    • 5-year parts and labour warranty vs 2 years for LG.
    • Has an LED light inside the drum vs non in LG.
    • 4 support struts for the drum vs 2 in LG.
    • Takes up less space and weighs less than the LG.

LG was in the comparison because it had direct drive inverter motor and has both hot and cold water inlets, but ultimately I didn't think it was worth the $160 extra.

    Good luck with your search!

    • Thanks for the comparison!
I hadn't thought of the ChiQ but will do some more research.

    • $160 extra

      For the WiFi feature….

  • +2

I can't speak for that exact model but I've got the LG series 6 with ezDispense and it works great! Very quiet and smooth. Also LG is currently offering 4 years warranty on some models.

  • +1

+1 for the LG, their a well made machines that rate highly on repair forums,
and make sure you sign up for any extra warranty that their offering.
It just makes it easier down the line if anything does go sideways.
Obviously they have different tiers of models from series 5 being the most basic to series 10 having all the bells and whistles.
If you can wait the more expensive ones in the larger capacity come on sale every year,
You can search Ozbargain history to see when last but obviously keep an eye out Black Friday, Boxing Day and get any gift card /cash back thats going at the time for further savings.
