I was waiting in the Uber line at the airport for more than an hour this morning. Apparently the drivers are striking due to Uber changing the cut that they take.
Anyway, a guy was walking along the line telling people the code for $20 off as compensation for the wait.
It worked and my partner was able to add it to hers for future use too.
Not sure if there is a minimum but it applies to existing customers too - enjoy!

    Thanks for those hopeless drivers.
    They got nothing for not working and we all got $20.

    The root cause of low wages from uber is that there are too many drivers. The hurdle is so low.
    If they don't like uber, why don't they just go and find another job?
    And If they all leave the industry, other drivers will get better paid and thank them. 😂😂😂

      You got nothing mate as uber has removed the promo for everyone.
      1) Let me correct you on this as uber doesn’t provide wages but pays per trip minus the commission, uber has reduced his fares which is going to impact the drivers with having less money in their pocket on every trip.
      2) There’s no safety thing in Uber or rideshare so this is also a concern, so hopefully they add camera’s like Taxi’sand give a better support to their drivers.
      3) When you do any job for x number of years then it’s not easy to switch jobs, so the drivers have a right to protest for any unfair practices.
      4) It doesn’t matter the number of drivers we have on road.

      PS:- It’s very easy to judge or estimate when you’re sitting at home and know nothing about someone’s job.

        Nah sorry champ but if you rely on driving people from point A to point B as a contractor as your sole source of income and have little or no other discernible skills, or you come here from overseas on a “skilled” visa and decide to just drive a car around for a living instead, you have no right to kick up a stink.
        Don’t get me wrong, Uber are a pretty scummy/predatory company and I never use their services, but I’m not siding with the drivers on this one.

            If they are not financially sustainable here, or if they are not contributing their skills to our economy as we planned for them, they should consider go to somewhere else or back to their home town.

                @aman00024: The fair price is the market price, decide by supply and demand, not the price either party wanted.

                During a bad weather event, or after a large crowd event (AFL final/ Taylor Swift concert), the price is triple or even more than the regular price, because there is more demand than supply.

                That is not a "fair price" as well according to your logic. But have you guys ever complained about the "unfair pricing"?
                No, because you are taking advantage of the same uber algorithm.

                So stop playing the victim card and go back to work.

                  Just read some good books from where you can learn some basics of kindness or even YOUTUBE is helpful too.
                  As we grow old, we learn while we earn so never stop learning.

        1.same rationale, too much supply, not enough demand, hence low income, you as a product is not competitive, too many identical product in the same market.

        1. Passenger needs a credit card and a phone number to register an uber account. police may easily track the passenger's identity if there is criminal act. That is unlike taxi where the driver doesn't know who the passenger is.
          No I don't need an extra camera to film female passengers by a male driver.

        3 &4. Uber is never meant to be your permanent job. It's designed to be a flexible extra income, outside of your full time job or study.
        Everyone can get in and out of the industry easily. All you need is a car. The hurdle is low.
        If you rely on uber as your main and only income, you have a huge issue with your career planning.
        For those who claim it's difficult to switch jobs, it's just an excuse, they just don't want to step out of their comfort zone.

          People can use their overseas card and number to use uber as a customer here so need something for the sake of safety prospective.
          For example:- When I go overseas and I have used the australian card there.
