Has Anyone Figured out What Is Most Bang for Buck for McDonald's Monopoly Tickets?

I don't typically eat this much junk food but I got Monopoly bundle earlier this week and it got me 3 out of the 4 tickets required for a prize. I KNOW MY CHANCES OF GETTING THE LAST TICKET IS SLIM TO NONE. But I figured I might try anyway.

Surely someone on OzB must have figured out what is most bang for buck for Maccas Monopoly tickets.

McDonald's is the best restaurant in the world

    • This is true. They are the best at being everywhere. For a clown based business this is an amazing feat!

Getting 2/3 or 3/4 is by design, that's how they get ya

My favourite is all the people selling the non rare one of a pair, like Mayfair was easy to get, but Park Lane was impossible, and on Fartbook and Scumtree you would see people trying to sell Mayfair for $10,000+

      • +1

Because people don't realise that (iirc) the 'rare' ones change every year….

      • I once held 4 mayfairs in my time!!!!!

That's literally how the marketing campaign feeds off FOMO…

This website shows you the rare tickets, I would recommend having a look and seeing if you are missing the rare one, no point chasing the unicorn.

Nice find! And yeah of course the ticket I need is a rare ticket.

      Alright. Party's over!

Yes, and for anyone who perhaps hasn't thought about such things much, 'rare' in this context equates to exactly the number of prizes that the winning combination entitles punters to, that the vendor/company is offering.

For example, if they are only offering one $50,000 prize for a combination of three tickets, they will literally only print/release one of those 'rare' tickets. They will never print/release more, and risk a legal stoush over who acquired the winning combination 'first' or anything like that. They will only create/release one. If there are three such prizes available to be won, they only print/release three of the 'rare' tickets, and so on.

I wonder how many times in such competitions the 'rare' ticket/s end up just being chucked out/not even opened/perused by the buyer of the product; in which case I believe that the company is required by Australian law to still issue the prize to someone, via what is referred to in the 'Terms and Conditions' (fine print) of such competitions as a 'Second Chance Draw'.

Given the above, I think that it is probably well worth availing yourself of any entry into a 'second chance draw' that you are offered by way of a losing ticket. It may not be a losing ticket after all!

        • I utmost agree on the lose faze.

In the past, you could redeem (any sized) beverages costing 2500 points. You could get a large coffee and get 2 tickets this way.

Now they changed it to 2500 for a small (no tickets), 3500 for a medium (1 ticket), and 5000 for a large (2 tickets).

    • Apart from 2500 on the Small McCafe Bev (no sticker) it is 2500 for a Hamburger (not a Cheeseburger) that wouldn't feed anyone,

    best bang for buck…
    date a maccas worker :)

    • This is the correct answer. I had a whole bag of hot fudge stolen for me among other things.

      • You know it’s love when someone steals stuff for you.

        • Normally I'd say yes but she would steal everything. I walked into her bedroom to find a heap of roadworks signs 😅

          • @Clear: lol she sounds like a keeper. Shame this relationship didn’t progress. I’d personally look forward to the forum post “my fiancé keeps stealing things, I’m worried she might end up in prison, should I call off the wedding?”

            • @morse: Haha that thread would be a gold mine. I'd have to ignore everyone's suggestions too.

After being burned by HJs Uno promotion, I think I'm going to sit this one out. Unless I'm at home bored and high, then I might order a meal every single day. But next year they won't get me, I'm swearing off next year's promotion.

    • Yeah I completely avoided it last year but I had to get a quick dinner this year and ended up at Maccas. Mistakes were made :(

Got a $1 large frozen coke the other day, came with two tickets
    .

    • I'll try this, but my local McDonald's often have no zero sugar frozen coke.

    • Didn't get any tickets with my $1 frozen coke purchase today.

This only happens when a joint runs out of the normal large frozen drink cups, and they have to resort to using the large soft drink cups.

        • Got lucky again, same store last night

      • why not ??

    Free tickets!

But nowdays most have wised up and give you a frappe cup with out stickers. But its always worth a try.

bit late but dont get into the fomo, there around only around 10 of each rare card. that doesnt sound bad until you realise there are like millions of cards in total

  • +1

what are the chances they never even print out the rare card needed to win? It could only be won within the app.

    • Especially since WA and TAS are playing ticketless

  • One of those every 3-day deals that pops up is 1 McFlurry (2 tickets) + 1 hasbrown (1 ticket) for $2.99, so about a dollar for one ticket. You have to be lucky to wait for this deal to appear in your app tho.

  • I was wondering how much the tickets are worth on average and did some stats based on the website linked above to find out:

-There are 21,058,183 instant win non-food items tickets worth a total of $566,302,405.30. That's an average value per ticket of $26.89.
-There are 39,108,187 instant win food items worth a total of $187,015,363.01. That's an average of $4.78.
-There are also 71 big prizes worth a total of $273,716, but they can be ignored in the big picture.

So overall, there are 60,166,370 winning tickets with an average value of $12.52 per ticket.
Since 1 in 4 ticket wins, each ticket is worth $3.13 on average. Given the second chance prices per ticket, this amount is probably higher.

Pretty good deal given that tickets can be bought for much less than that. :)

Absolute best bang for buck for tickets is the 2 hash browns for $3.50 deal. Gives you two tickets.
