Not Sure on Region free capability . it's listed Region 4 on box, and I was going to try a code, but I put a Region 1 NTSC disc in it and it just played it fine? , Changing country codes to other countries has no effect on playing region 4 discs .. Might be Cheap and Cheerful but I bet it still boots faster than any Panasonic.

Lol I've got a Panny BR player. The Avatar 3D BR disc takes about 5 minutes to load. DVDs upscale nicely though so I keep it.

  • Can you get multi-region blu-ray players? There are quite a few titles only available in region A that I'd like to get.

Got one over the weekend, good value since they are on clearance. Cheapest new one is around $130 from other local retailers I looked at.

Some market place websites are selling refurbished Panasonic players for around the same price.

The player itself is nothing fancy, but is nice, compact and does the job.

Only a year ago, I was teaching a course in black history at the University of Blaupunkt.

Look, I'm not the first guy who fell in love with a woman that he met at a restaurant who turned out to be the daughter of a kidnapped scientist, only to lose her to her childhood lover who she last saw on a deserted island, who then turned out fifteen years later to be the leader of the French underground.

Used to work in tech at Officeworks, Blaupunkt stuff was BY FAR the most returned brand for faults and QC issues. I saw more of these get refunded than my store actually sold. Their RMA team are pretty slow and annoying to deal with too. Great price but keep this in mind before buying

    • Yes, I wouldn't expect them to be great. None of these sort of brands are. The "Laser" brand thats next up price wise out there atm is probably going to be no better.

If it breaks , I just push for my money back, i'm not dealing with their RMA dept's

I remember paying $29 for an el-cheapo 2ch Blu-Ray player in like 2009 from Coles.

    • I was hoping to do something like that, but alas DVD players have become a bit of a niche , lower volume, so higher prices. I thought it was absurd to pay well over $100 that is the next cheapest option, and still generic !

  • Brand name Blaupunkt was sold to a Chinese company many years ago and is no longer German excellence.

    • I think you meant manufacturing out of China. Because the company is actually managed by GIP Development SARL of Luxembourg.

      • No, he absolutely meant that Blaupunkt are no longer German excellence.

https://gip-development.net/ are just a brand management company.

  • I still maintain what I said in my post

  • I ended up getting the Laser brand, as it's region-free. But the last time I tried to post it, it was taken down? Not sure other's experiences, but mine shipped out right away. I started with their region-free DVD and then when we had a major outage that fried a LOT of electronics (the burn-down of Yarloop, WA affected a lot of regions), they replaced it with the RF BRD player.

    FYI
