Vodafone V Smart 2 4G -- Under the Badge?

This is a cheapie because 3G shutdown. Low spec? I don't care about that. This is a phone sold at supermarkets — my favourite kind.

Vodafone V Smart 2 4G product page

Title mostly covers my query, and it's something I've been unable to answer thus far: Exactly what is beneath the Voda branding?
I've tried filtering by features on sites like GSMArena, hoping the twin would reveal itself. I whittled one search down to 2, then selected removable battery and it went to zilch. It has a removable battery which I consider important.

The Voda Device guide is no help (legacy handsets).

Does anyone know more about this handset? If you have one, are there any clues printed inside when you remove the battery etc? What case(s) or screen films are compatible, or are we locked into Voda store for these?

Thanks OzB.

The clue is in the filename of the image on Vodafone's site. Save it to your hard drive and insepct the filename or just look at the URL bar.

It's a Mobiwire branded white label phone that was custom ordered by Vodafone

MobiWire is a Sino-French Original Design Manufacturer. As an industry leader in the mobile-phones industry, we design and manufacture products that are eventually branded for our customer, for sale under their own brands.

    • Ahh the one thing I missed — thanks!

Was matching features at places like gsmarena to reveal the twin — no luck. I also couldn't find a mention here or at WP.

    • So it's a Mobiwire H6322, sold in NZ and possibly elsewhere as the Smart P24.
      Some FCC compliance photos

  • Same with the V Pro 2-also a Mobiwire rebadge, the H6671L.

  • Arrived yesterday and it's good enough for me. Android 13 GO isn't the nightmare I was led to believe. I disabled the animations and other eye candy to help so it's pretty responsive. Side-loading of apps is fine, just the usual Allow unknown sources pref in the OS.

Wanted something like this because the back snaps off / user replaceable battery / no slide tray.

The fun bit is now finding accessories for it, as none appear to exist on AliE or eBay for this exact model. Won't be getting gouged at a Vodafone store!
I've been auditioning alternatives for a neat screen film solution, and so far the Nokia 6.2, C210 and C110 models are good candidates.

An old flip case from a Sammy A13 is just secure enough with some urethane foam packing the bottom inner edge. Many phones are much closer in overall dimensions so it's just a matter of finding something as close as possible, with lens cutouts and side button alignment a bonus.

Thanks and fire away if there's anything.

  • Update, TL:DR advice is buy something else if ease of finding bits is more important than price or a removable back cover.
There's a few candidates around $100 or less with more storage, bigger screen etc. Just depends what's more important to you.

Should someone else need greater choice than the Voda shop for the VS2/Mobi H6322…

Most 6.3" protective film/glass with triangulated top notch will be perfect: Nokia 6.2, Nokia C210 or C110, among others.

A suitable TPU case is trickier. If not for the depth, I'd have picked a Nokia C110 case. That phone's 1.4mm thinner and I was concerned it might not hold and be too low on the sides.
With that in mind, next closest dimensions is Infinix Smart HD 2021

    L 158.3mm (~2.5mm smaller)
    W 75.2mm (0.2mm wider)
    D 9.8mm (0.1mm thinner)

Will stretch this over. The side buttons don't align, so I'll just neatly cut apertures for them.

For an armour type case — all over AliEx for cheap ones — I went for one intended for lnfinix Hot 10i
That's 3.55mm longer, 1mm wider and .03mm thinner. The last two are easily within stretch tolerance for the material and I'll pack with foam for the length if need be (ooo-er!).
The fingerprint pad and lens array looks like a very close match and the bonus here is the side buttons appear to align perfectly. Within the case, getting the top/bottom packing right will help too.

Nothing's here yet but I'll update more later.

  • Got my old bookmarks, update time.

    1. Phone is fine.
    2. Android 13 GO will be limited for some, merely adequate for me.
    3. Voice calls and basic functions good. No crashes or anything weird. Charges okay and battery life good.
    4. Don't get an Infinix Smart HD 2021 unless you can stretch it. I've tried heating mine and it didn't work.
    5. Best case will be Samsung Galaxy F22, but I don't have one. Ordered one but they sent me an A22 5G case — too big but spaced the bottom and camera cutout lines up well enough (for LED too).
    6. lnfinix Hot 10i case will work quite well, just needs 4mm foam spacers at bottom for side buttons to line up 95% perfectly.

So until I get my hands on an F22 case, it's the last mentioned (#6) that's in use day-to-day!
