Features

For maximum traction on mixed terrain and extended durability, Contagrip TD combines a deep, aggressive lug pattern with our most durable compound.
This chassis helps keep outer ankle articulations safe and protected, while also bringing the right level of stability and extra heel support when carrying a heavier load.
GORE-TEX keeps your feet dry -from the outside as well as from the inside.
Quality full-grain leather material for longer wear and durability.
A special treatment is applied to provide extra protection, ensuring that the fabric does not absorb water during light rain and showers.
A soft, breathable lining for extreme comfort.

The tongue is connected to the upper on both sides, preventing debris from entering the shoe, and keeping the tongue centered.
SensiFit™ cradles the foot from the midsole to the lacing system, providing a secure, snug, and virtually customized fit all around the foot.
A wrap of leather, synthetic or rubber around the base of the foot that protects the lateral and medial sides of the foot.
These mobile wings help hold the foot in place and accompany its movement, adapting to its shape and volume.
Molded to match the contours of your foot, this OrthoLite insole provides superior cushioning, as well as breathability and durability, to upgrade the comfort and performance of our footwear.

Traditional lacing system with eyelets.

To help reduce our impact on the environment, no harmful PFC (Perfluorocarbons) are used to ensure the water repellency of our shoes. Our waterproof GORE-TEX models are free from PFCec (Perfluorocarbons of environmental concern) but may contain some PFC.

i find these crappy meaning a rubber sole like a gumboot ,salmon has gone downhill - keen are much better in comfort and flexibility.

    • Agree - I find the fabric in the heel wears away very very quickly. Friend has also found this and has as many salomons as me (x4)

    • Reviewers - and I - completely disagree. One of the best aspects of the top line GTX/Ultra/Quest Salomons is their sole. Grippy without being bulky, durable and stiff without being uncomfortable.

      • thats why they are always on special - because everyone knows how crappy they really are from the fake reviews online.

        • "everyone knows…always on special". Lol, classic uninformed Ozbargain drivel. The reviews I posted are from respected sources, which you'd know had you ever bothered to read any. I doubt you've ever owned any, even the multitude of cheaper models like Pioneer, Daintree etc which compete in the middle ground and are significantly inferior to this premium boot. Deals on the top line Salomon's are relatively rare. Feel free to post them if you find any under $250.

          • @Igaf: lol i have 3 pairs all dogshit!- if all your worried about is the price for your argument, then its pointless, like buying a toaster for $300 then it wont evenly toast. LOL

            • fact they are always on special
            • they arnt premium compared to other brands
            • seems like you only know this brand
            • fact those cheaper models you mentioned are pretty much on par with salomon.

end of the day each to there own - i can voice my opinion ,to me salomon are crap.

            • @Retarded Lunatic: 3 pairs of dogshit Salomon Quest 4 shoes? Slow learner? Pull the other one, it's got bells on.

Your unsubstantiated opinions and inventions about false reviews/everyone knowing/always on special/poor soles (lol, clueless barely describes that bit of arrant nonsense, something you'd know if you owned them or simply read expert opinions) aren't "fact", other than in your mind.

Aren't premium compared to which other brands and models? IF your bias didn't stop you from reading quality reviews - including those I've linked - you'd know a huge variety of hiking boots and shoes are reguarly evaluated and compared by people with far more knowledge and experience than either you or I. These and other top line Salomons regularly appear at or near the top of most professional and many user reviews.

Since you don't read links I'll help you out with just two summaries:
"By our assessment, the Salomon Quest 4 Gore-Tex is the best men's hiking boot available. This model builds on the success of the earlier Quest models, with the addition of some notable new technologies that increase stability and comfort, as well as a weight savings of nearly half a pound. This boot is suitable for day hikes and easier trails, though it really shines for the backpackers who want the best support and stability they can find for hiking in challenging terrain or when wearing a backpacking pack. With all the same performance in a lighter package, we find the Quest 4 Gore-Tex even more appealing than previous iterations and have no hesitation in giving it our highest praise."

"It's hard not to give too much praise to the Salomon Quest 4 GTX. As one of our top picks for backpacking, it is a highly supportive and hard-wearing boot that keeps our feet feeling fresh over tough terrain and long miles. With its GTX waterproofing and high collar, it keeps our feet dry and warm at all times. We believe that at $230, you do get what you pay for.
Our top pick in best hiking boots
Our top pick in best backpacking boots

Interesting straw man though. You (wrongly) bang on that "they're always on special" and then without any evidence claim I'm worried about price alone. Comedy gold. I and friends - men and women - have multiple pairs of Ultras and/or Quests and we all agree they're great boots/shoes, as do the expert testers I've linked. Typical comments are that they're stable, give great grip wet or dry, are hard wearing, and provide terrific foot/ankle support.

Yes, at the end of the day you can and should pick what suits your feet and use best. For "light" walking on even terrain there are many more suitable (lighter, less rigid) boots but "fact is" (lol) your assessemnt of these is neither typical, nor accurate.

              • @Igaf: lol so i cant have an opinion on here…hahahaaha im glad you can cut and paste but your preaching to the wrong person they are still dogshit!

i dont bang on just search here on oz bargain are you that incapable of doing so .. and you still preach about these shoes without actually owing others..in my first response i compare them to keens… im not caring about reading other reviews i buy them and try them then i decide.. you cant polish a turd. im not a slower learner i just like to try different types, this brand has gone downhill esp with the sole feeling every rock and comfort side of things when you go for long treks in my opinion they are rubbish as i said good marketing and the only shoe thats always on special , you pay for what you get …

im glad you can prove my opinion to be wrong and inaccurate ..ahhaaha makes me laugh

                • @Retarded Lunatic:

lol so i cant have an opinion on here

"Dogshit" opinions are a dime a dozen on Ozb and it's stating the bleeding obvious that you've presented the very best of yours. Try as you have, as you say you can't polish a turd. Apart from demonstrating that you're full of childish cliches, the fact that you've targeted the sole is a very good indicator that you know nothing at all about the product.

                  • @Igaf: awesome! ill take that comment and apply it to your logic! your asking me to look at others opinions which are reviews then you say they are dime a dozen..LOL good to know the type of person thats replying… makes absolutely no sense.

                    • @Retarded Lunatic: Feel free to do whatever you feel is apt. When you post your first deal you might want to get someone to edit it to make sure it isn't filled with obvious kiddie bs.

                      • @Igaf: yep ill cut and paste from other websites reviews and not accept anyone's opinion.. sounds fair to me..

                        • @Retarded Lunatic: That would certainly help your credibility. Alternatively you could continue to massively over-value your own opinion and invent stuff to make it seem valid to people with the same lack of knowledge and experience, and a similar mindset.

                          • @Igaf: i dont need too you shot yourself in the foot long ago in the conversation- i could invent things up but i dont - i just offer my opinion

                            • @Retarded Lunatic: The irony. Suffice to say - or in your words "fact is/everyone knows" - your credibility is very much on par with your English.
