$100 Cashback for Eligible Policy Holders (Including New Members & Stacks with 6 Weeks Free Offer) @ ahm Health Insurance

220

$100 cash back for ahm policy holders as at 30 September 2024.
Sign up any time before then to take advantage.
Stack with their current offer for 6 weeks free (and another 2 weeks after a year, but if you're staying that long you're doing it wrong) or their referral offer.

Most private health insurance extras funds reset their benefits each calendar year. ahm is on a very short list of funds that reset at the start of the new financial year. If you've claimed with your existing provider between January - June, you can switch and claim again freely now (then switch to another fund and claim again in the new calendar year).

Churn and burn. Switching if quite lucrative, especially if you're the average middle class OzBargainer on $150k. Waiting periods you've served will transfer over from your previous fund.

  • Can OP clairy that if I sign up for the policy and make a claim within 2024 and cancel before 2024 ends. I will still eligible to claim another insurance that RESET CALENDAR year?

    • I think AHM might be operating on financial year instead of calendar year.

Eg, if you join ahm and claim in September this year, then switch to another fund (at any time), you can claim with that new fund again from January 2025.

Yes, it's not really anything to do with the fund you're changing from. Health funds will include claims from the current 6 month period (Jul-Dec) and the previous 6 month period (Jan-Jun) on your transfer certificate, but it doesn't really matter.

If the fund you change to resets limits on 1 Jan no claims from the previous calendar year will affect your annual limits in the current calendar year.

Same if you go to AHM where they use financial year, if you change now, none of your claims from the previous financial year will affect your annual limits in this financial year. So if you've used up a heap of limits Jan-Jun this year it doesn't matter.

  • Middle class aussie is a myth

  • Nice - I am getting $100 with the dental too

  • Is it worth it? Still need to pay for 60 days vs 30 to get the 6 weeks free.

    • Compared to staying with an existing insurer (which I presume you have), absolutely. 6 weeks free is 6 more than none plus $100 back too.

      • Not really staying but churning into one that offers 6 weeks after 30 days only. The extra 30 days at AHM cost outweighs the $100.

Do you have private health insurance now?

        • +1

Correct. Was only worth it for me when i signed up on 30 June so all my previous limits could be carried forward or 1st July. And also claimed optical twice (200+200) and gym membership aka health management twice (250+250).

          • @easternculture: Re health management I could not find gym membership but only exercise classes/courses under AHM's health improvement benefits. Is that another hack?

  • cant stack with that offer as it seems to be for extras only?

    • Linked the wrong offer, fixed in the post now thanks. Correct link is https://ahm.com.au/offer/8-Weeks-Free-WW-Jul-01-2024#terms
But it doesn't give you anything a referral sign up doesn't (unless you stay for 12 months)

      • thanks for the fix. does referral work if ive been with ahm before?

        • Worked when I signed up with my mate's link (and I'm with ahm every year for a couple of months)

  • This is a good deal!

    • +1

Would have been a good deal if you signed up on 30/6 , see my comment above.

      • Hmm I was wondering about this, can you clarify. I have claims from March with my current insurer - are you saying that my claims limit WON'T be reset even though AHM resets on 1 July? IE you have to swapover before the FY to benefit from AHM's different date?

        • +2

No. Ahm said that any unused limits will carry forward to next financial year starting 1/7. Many of the ahm extra policies didnt have a waiting period. So i signed up on 30/6 10pm and got all unused limits carried over so i have double the dollar amount to use this financial year. I claimed optical on 30/6 as the optical limit didnt roll over.
And got 6 weeks free ( added my kids one day before free period started so i can claim dental for them.) Plus $100 AHM cashbach plus $75 TCB upsized CB. So really got about 5 months free extras on my 2nd extras policy

  • The cash back amount is only payable per eligible policy, and applies to resident ahm members holding a hospital and/or extras policy on 30 September 2024. Excludes Ambulance Only, Overseas Visitors Cover, Overseas Workers Cover and Overseas Student Health Cover.

  • will the free 6 wks commence immed after 60 days ?
so in theory we can leave after 60+(6x7)=102 days..

    • +1

      Pretty much, yes.

Actually if you leave right after the 6 weeks free has been applied you'll get a refund for the already paid days.

  • To get the $100 do you need to prepay the whole annual premium or can you pay weekly?

    • Definitely don't need to prepay the year.

      • Quite generous of them

Will I still get the cashback at the end of October into my bank account if I held the policy on September 30th, but leave AHM on Oct 2nd ?
