Good deal? Keep for 120 days and get $200 cashback?

Is it easy to cancel service with Optus NBN?

  • +1

So for 100Mbps plan, currently it's $79pm (with $20 off). To get this cashback, just stay on a plan for 4 months with total of $79*4-$200 = $116. Is that correct?

      • +2

You dont need to get the modem from them

    • -2

Not worth it imho if there is no profit.

Plus remember , you will have a credit inquiry on your file from the optus transaction

      • +3

I think 4 months of NBN for ~$120 is a deal. Already get used to switch NBN retailer twice a year anyway 🥲

  • +1

Eligable if I select a plan to start in the future?

    • Wondering the same as well. Is there anyway to set the connection date when ordering the online? T&Cs state that cashback is only valid for online orders (not phone or chat).

  • +1

    $79 for 100Mbps is decent I suppose.

    • -4

Pay $320 (possibly $400 if you forget 120 day mark) to get $200 cashback so out of pocket $120 to $200.

Unless there is a profit, i dont see any benefit with this deal

      • +2

If they sign up for the $79 100Mbps plan and say for 5 months and then cancel (assuming they foret to cancel on the 120th day), that's $395, and $195 out of pocket after cashback. That works out to $39 per month for 100Mbps, which is quite a good deal.

            @easternculture: How??? Please share :)

          • @easternculture: I got free 3562 days for me :D remaining

@Turd: Been a good run post covid.

Free electricity 2 years so far.
              Free gas this year.
              Free NBN
Almost Free PHI (maybe paid 2 to 3 month in total per year) for past few years
House is up 30% value (bought it outright in mid 2021) as per sales in my surrounding streets

Just employments been a bit hard in my field as im not vaccinated (employers still insisting on vax) but been making good scores trading on other platforms.

              • @easternculture: That's really good, esp with cost of living etc always high, nice work to "make money" when not working.

Not sure why the negatives, maybe people jealoius?

                • -1

@Turd: I guess most people think you have to have a job to make money. One thing i learned from the covid era is there are numerous ways of making money legally (without needing to declare or pay tax on it). Which i knew these things 20 years ago, my life would have been different

                  • +1

@easternculture: Ive always known this.. :D

A LOT harder now days than way back then.

                    I mean I laundered 2.0 million legally. :D

                    • @Turd: Nice. 2 Mil was something way back. Now it barely buys you a house in an ok area in sydney

      • +1

I mean I have to pay for my NBN anyway so it's either with Optus where I pay $120 for 4 months or full price with somebody else right?

      • +1

Sure it might be profitable now but feeding and looking after a child to get the free government nbn deal probably doesn't make your deal profitable.

This seems to be the better nbn deal

          If only you knew

If i wrote a book a book about all the legal hacks ive found over the last 10 years, it would probabaly become a no.1 best seller overnight

          • +1

@easternculture: sorry, but that sounds like a waste of tax payers money!
I don't care about those businesses with no business ethics, but I don't profit from EVERYTHING

            • -3

@lhou021: Thats the difference between you and me. I like to profit from everything (or at least save) when i can

              • -1

@easternculture: That's why you eat out of dumpsters and off the ground right?

                • -1

@CheapoJohnno: Not sure how this relates to the topic but i think a person that says things like this is trash and thats most probably where you belong considering your username. Welcome to my blocked user list, hope you enjoy your stay.

  • What's the cancellation policy with Optus NBN? 30 days in advance notice?

    • Just call them a week in advance and should be good , they weren't great with frequent disconnections and the TECH can't literally check anything as they can only if one has Optus provided router. They will bill you in advance but it should be refunded prorata (as in my case).

  • They still do credit enquiry am I right?

  • What is the definition for new sign-ups (new Optus) customers ? If I was previously with them for NBN but I don't currently have any existing service with them … am I eligible ?

  • +2

Can I set a date in the future to connect it up?

  • Assuming that if I'm an Optus customer for mobile currently I wouldn't be considered a new customer for internet right?

  • Any way to signup now and start service 10 days later?

  • There is flybuys offer as well. Not sure if can be stacked.

    https://www.optus.com.au/fixed/flybuys?source=flybuys_metro_…

    • +1

Cashback is ineligible if combined with any third party offers from Flybuys and/or other rewards programs.

      But still, worth a try
