Is that why they are the Best Rated Supermarket 7 years in a row.
Don't worry, I'll tell you. LOL
@PainToad: You must have a bad local store(s) then.
Our stores in Newcastle are pretty good, though I saw Thigh Chicken was $15.49 a kg on the weekend. Woolworths are $14.50, but this maybe from the 'fresh Deli'. RSPCA approved is $28 a KG. Coles is $17.40
@PainToad: colesworth buy from producers in far more volume and for that reason can be far more aggressive in their negotiating
as a result producers are always cutting corners to deliver for colesworth and it's obvious in the taste but that can be subjective, what isn't is nutritional data and colesworth home brands are almost always inferior
aldi on the other hand tends to the same product with a different label, for the more expensive to produce varieties they just don't carry, for example diet rite cordial aldi will carry the raspberry but not the lime as the latter is more expensive to produce, woolies is around 30% more expensive
aldi carry tiptop burger/hotdog bread at a little under half the price, herman brot low carb around 20% lower, etc etc
don't get me started on aussie frozen food compared the toxic crap coming out of china at colesworth
since aldi tend to use normal products relabelled rather than reformulated ones like colesworth the quality doesn't drop, just the selection
reality is colesworth have been working together rinsing aussies who prefer to complain about prices rather than explorer alternatives, it's a shame albanese threw his weight around because dumb aussies got too vocal, will just make things worse
aldi on the other hand tends to the same product with a different label
Not from my experience. The quality is no better than the home brands at Woolworths. Not that there’s anything wrong with homebrands. But the good thing about Woolworths is I can buy home brand stuff for the things I don’t mind and treat myself to the other brand name stuff all in the one single shop.
@PainToad: i just gave you 4 examples
could list countless but 4 is enough to make the point
like i said, if you had any doubt that colesworth brands weren't inferior to aldi just check out the nutritional data and remove all doubt
maybe your just the type of person who doesn't bother looking at nutritional data
maybe your just the type of person who doesn't bother looking at nutritional data
I mostly eat unprocessed foods or things recommended by our dietitian now days.
@PainToad: That's why people love them.
To be honest I don’t like the way Aldi give themselves and a lot of the products gold star winner medals that they clearly paid for and the shopping experience in store is horrendous. But they are taking money out of coleworths pockets and certain items are just Devine - the Greek boneless chicken is my favourite.
I have aldi, Woolworths and Coles equidistant and equally convenient to access for me yet a don't go to aldi. Just an unpleasant shopping experience having always to line up and not having everything I want. Maybe I'll try them again with their self service checkout.
@42: All 3 are in the same Westfield for me as well but like you I don't shop there for the awful shopping experience. Also no rewards. Ww has got me with all the points they're giving away lately.
@42: Bulls#$@t . Line up at Woolie or Coles and you can be there 10 or minutes. ALDI takes 2 minutes the most. I can buy one chicken breast for $5 and out the door in less than 5 minutes. With cole or Woolworths I have to line up at the deli for ages. Then queue at the checkout again.
Canstarblue is privately owned by a shareholder group and Aldi's owners are a member of that ownership group.
There is zero credibility to any of Canstar's awards and less than zero credibility to any given to Aldi.
Anyone who has ever shopped even once at Aldi has experienced what is clearly the worst customer service in existence in Australia. Even corner shops, deli's and IGA's are a better experience than Aldi is.
@infinite: That explains a lot. Another reason to hate Aldi.
Canstarblue is privately owned by a shareholder group and Aldi's owners are a member of that ownership group
Yeah, don't bother fact checking the account that spends half the time in the penalty box for trolling.
This only works if people bring it up out of the blue, this isn't out of the blue
You mean 'Canstar Blue?' ;)
The Aldi chicken chipotle bowl slaps pretty hard. Been a while since I been arsed to purposely stop at an Aldi though.
Just like vegans. I didn't believe it until it happened to me.
I tried the burgers on the weekend. They were awful. The tenders tonight, they were awful too. The consistency of the meat just made it feel like it was uncooked even though they clearly weren't. I'll stick to these. I usually love Aldi stuff too, so I'm putting them down to a rare miss for me.
I found them pretty poor, the size was all over the place, a few were frozen solid together and the chicken wasn't very good.
Especially as they are not "Take outs"
I like to "Eat in"
I bought some recently given they look like a rip off of these. Looking forward to giving them a go
One of the best frozen fried chicken brands. All the Nashville ones are nice
the aldi real chicken breast ones shit on these
I concur. Only problem is that it's really hard to find it at my local.
yes and its a limited time thing. ive found that sometimes theyll restock at night just before closing
$20 a kg for chicken, this is so not Ozbargain.
Have you ever bought Popcorn Chicken from KFC?
The upvotes say otherwise, each to their own.
$10/kg for southern style boneless frozen chicken is the going rate at aldi
i forget the name of the product but there is tegal replica at aldi for a limited time for $10/kg
it's not the southern style tenders which are a bit meh (steggles), it's called something else, like chicken bits oor something
this "deal" is a joke
I don't get the hype, plenty of competitors in a similar price range.
The "hype" is simply that they've made up a brand name that is meant to convince people that they're having a "takeaway" meal, like KFC or red rooster.
Nothing more.
Like who ?
is it good value? dunno :) but I'm curious to try it out ~
thanks OP
Not sure why haven't, gets posted on here twice a month

The burgers are unreal. I keep a bag at work and have them for lunch. Tenders work out well with some mayo, cheese & bacon inside dinner rolls for the kids and a side of chips.
Which burgers, the extra crunchy chicken burgers that go on sale all the time is made from manufactured meat chicken, it's disgusting, chewy very obvious fake chicken that has a terrible texture, and contains holes where bubbles were once when forming the fake chicken.
If you mean the other burgers that never go half price anymore, well you could be right about those, they were 50% off once a long time ago, and were real breast chicken and high quality
These ones. Put them in the airfryer. I happily pay full price for them, they are that good.
Kids have these for dinner? Hm…
They were $7 dollars when they launched in Australia! They are better than some KFC store's
Might be a controversial opinion with a lot of down votes, but it is an opinion at the end of the day, this chicken tastes like human excretion, and it’s mostly bone, the only frozen chicken I’d buy is the steggles sweet chilli chicken tenders
The boned ones, I haven’t tried boneless so please don’t poop on me
Yeah that's what I found with these as well. I love trying heaps of different chicken, but these are absolute trash. I ate a few and threw out the bag, which I don't think I've ever done before in my life.
I get you don’t like it. But why the hyperbole?
Dramatic effect
I like the inference that you can distinguish between the excretion of different animals, a true connoisseur.
It really is only bone.
Colesworth used to have them half price quite often at $7, well worth it then. Nice quick air fryer dinner fix for last resorts. Not seen them for $7 for a long time now….
they were a rip off at $7 too
and IIRC they were 700g back in those days, not 500g!
completely overrated and ridiculously overpriced
I think you were the first to mention it here..
I SWEAR these used to be bigger.. 500g for almost $10 seems pretty pricey even for today. My dad LOVES these though so I moght grab one or two to keep in the freezer when he really craves it but these don't seem as great value anymore at the size/price.. 😪 Shame.
If water is the second listed ingredient. I avoid. Not hating on anyone, but not for me.
From the product description.
"Produced in New Zealand
Produced and packed in New
Zealand using ingredients from
multiple origins"
With a name like Nashville I thought it must be an American brand. For sure Nashville style sounds much more appealing than calling it Christchurch style.
Anyone know if the burgers are part of the deal 🙃
Crunchy yes.
These things are like 50% more expensive than a year ago
I don’t mind the Aldi ones as well. $10 every day.
