    *PAST EXPIRY 14/04/2022

So they were hoarding during COVID and it didn't work out?

    • Theyve had this stuff in the sale section for like 2 years or more, i usually just chuck a couple bottles in when i order something . Postage from kegland is pricey but worth it for savings if you need any bits or pieces

      • Yeah I bought some a while back and was wondering why this wasn't on Ozbargain back then…. well it is now! Don't know what 'expired' in this but it's still going to kill germs so~~

Ethanol is volatile, so the expiry date in this case most likely reflects the latest date in which the 70% concentration can be guaranteed. After this date, it should be assumed that the concentration of ethanol in the product will be less than 70% due to volatile losses. It's also possible that the chlorhexidine (the other antiseptic ingredient in the product) may also have undergone some degradation too.

On balance, the product probably still has some sanitising effect, but it's not really possible to tell how much effectiveness remains and so shouldn't be relied upon where sanitation is of importance

          • @GreenGuava: Ethanol isn't going to evaporate in a sealed container like this.

            • @Mellows: I had a bunch of pocket sized sanitizer spray bottles left over from a job and kept them in various places but didn't use them for probably 4-5 years. Their caps were in place. When COVID hit I took them out to actually use. They were basically a gel with a faint sanitizer smell by then.

              Unexpected but the ethanol evaporated.

          • @GreenGuava: Wonder if you could just weigh it…. unless it breaks down into something else.

    • I tried hoarding 120 Proof spirits instead.

Only 99 cents if you buy 22 of them.

  • better watch out, kogan might snap them all up and sell them at $80/L

  • expired by more than 2 years, fora product that today is probably only valuable to the hygiene conscious. i smell a bad match

    • I use it for home brewing, just to wash hands etc, not clean the equipment.

  • WTF. How can these expire??

    • Contains: 70% v/v Ethanol, explained why can expire.
