Good guys were giving a $40 voucher and JB $30 voucher so price match there for more savings

  • This or Eufy E340?

    • Different product & purpose. This for main door, E340 for garage.

      • I mean the E340 doorbell, not E340 floodlight cam if that's what you're referring to

        • +1

Sorry my bad. E340 looks better - doesn’t need home base, also got lights for camera.

    • +1

I did a bit of research and got the E340

      • Biggest differences? I don't really see a need for the home base beside it ringing

        • Storage maybe
Does the bell have sd card like the aqara?

  • I just need the bell, how much I can sell for the home base

  • Can this be hooked up to power? And can a nest hub max stream who's at the door/used as a chime?

  • -4

This post neglects to mention that this "doorbell" won't actually ring in the house when someone presses the doorbell button like a traditional doorbell does. So if you're not near your phone or some other smart device, then you won't know someone is at the door. If you want to hear the doorbell throughout the house, you need to purchase a separate Eufy chime unit, which is another hundred bucks.

    • +5

I'm not an expert, but I understood that the Homebase (included with this kit) has a speaker that can act as a chime.

      • Yes, in my setup homebase has a chime

    • +2

      The homebase will ring.

Between that and my phone, I'm up +1 from a traditional doorbell.

  • I've been reading alot of people have mentioned there is a 5-10 second lag from when someone rings the doorbell to you getting the chime/notification and then another few seconds for the video to load up.

Anyone with this setup able to shed some light on whether this is an issue they have experienced?

    • Eufy doorbell and Homebase are connected to each other directly so how far they are placed would have an effect. My Homebase is in the garage so there’s probably a second delay max between someone pressing and chime going off.

As for video, yes it does take a couple seconds to bring it up - but so does walking to the door and look through peephole before technology. Homebase 3 might be quicker, I got a 2 at the moment.

      • Thanks for the reply, can you hear the chime fine throughout the house with the homebase being in your garage?

I've pulled the trigger on this one, was weighing up the E340 but don't really want to not have a chime or drop another $200 on homebase 3

        • +1

It’s loud enough for the most part. The chime also goes off on your phone as well if you are not on mute, otherwise just notification and vibrate.

Before anyone could ring the doorbell, chances are the camera already picked up human alert of them approaching the door.

I don’t think I’ve missed anyone so far, had it for about a year now.

  • should i return my Tapo D230S1 and get this?

  • I've got the wired version of this. I chose it since it replaced my old standard doorbell, so it uses the existing chime and I never have to charge it either.

  • I have an existing doorbell can this be a wired installation?

    • It seems there are 2 versions: a battery powered one (this deal) and a hard-wired version.

Wired installation is mentioned in the installation video here: https://youtu.be/1mH3k9HAkL8

      On their website, it says

Can the battery doorbell work as a wired doorbell when it's hardwired?
No, the battery doorbell cannot work as a wired doorbell. If you have existing doorbell wires and prefer to hardwire the doorbell, you are welcome to purchase the wired version. We will begin selling it in late March.

Can I connect my battery doorbell to my doorbell wires to extend battery life?
Yes, you can connect to your existing wires to extend your doorbell's battery life.

Bit confusing, but it seems the battery powered version can be wired in so it doesn't need charging - however it can't operate the old doorbell chime. Whereas the wired version can do both.

      • Seen any comparison detail anywhere?

  • Can you have two homebases on the one network?

    • +1

Yes, it seems that it works according to Reddit threads on the subject

  • Price on Amazon has gone up to $369.95 😞
