thanks. also this product doesn’t appear to deliver to regional areas

    • Delivers to here and i'm in a regional area. Rockhampton QLD. Make sure that it's sold and shipped by Amazon AU. It should be nation wide delivery from that. If it isn't then some thing isn't right.

I think you just got lucky tbh. It seems to be purely postcode based, and for some reason 4700/4701 hasn't been excluded yet from Amazon AU items, even though it's so far north of Brisbane it's not even funny.

I live in Maryborough 4650, which has been excluded for months now, meanwhile Hervey Bay 4655, which is only 25 minutes away, is still perfectly fine. There's no rhyme or reason to it. It's so arbitrary.

Enjoy it while it lasts I suppose…

        • Post code 4700/4701 has never been excluded from Amazon AU items since i've been buying from Amazon Australia for well over a decade. There's no reason for Amazon Australia to exclude Rockhampton from deliveries.

As for Maryborough 4650 it's probably because of an error in the system. As items sent through Australia Post should be nation wide and also there's an Aramex depot in Maryborough so you do get Aramex deliveries there. As far as i can tell Amazon Australia either sends out deliveries through Australia Post or Aramex. There's no excuse for that post code to be excluded.

In other words i think the Amazon Australia system has screwed up a configuration with some post codes accidentally excluding it when it shouldn't be.

@hollykryten: If you take a look at recent OzBargain deals, you'll see numerous comments from people all over Australia saying they can't order the vast majority of Amazon AU items anymore. It's usually either "temporarily out of stock", or only available at a much higher price from 3rd party sellers.

This has only been an issue for a couple of months now. Apart from an extremely limited set of postcodes listed here, 99% of all Amazon AU items (certain things like aerosols had restrictions) were deliverable no matter where you lived. I even used to get the odd item shipped from "Jandakot, WA", presumably because it was the only warehouse that had stock left. They simply didn't care, even if it was coming from the other side of the country.

It's not an error. I mean think about it: an "error" that prevents certain customers from giving Amazon money, simply because of their postcode. Wouldn't fixing that be a top priority? Why the lack of urgency? Did Amazon suddenly decide they don't like money anymore?

It's definitely intentional, and I think the only error here is Amazon accidentally missing some postcodes when they made their blacklist. Expect them to "fix" that sooner or later.

@bobbi084: there has definitely been something that is changing with amazon deliveries. The postcode in question used to receive amazon deliveries without a problem and they are now restricted. I’ll be reconsidering my subscription.

              • @tanksinatra: What the the items which you've been trying to get?. It's possible it's prohibited items by the courier. Amazon can't ship those out to any one.

For example i'm looking at Aerosols on the Amazon AU store such as underarm spray and i'm getting the "This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location." as because all Aerosol products are banned by both Australia Post and Aramex.

It's possible that all these items which you've been wanting are actually on the dangerous and prohibited items list by the couriers. Amazon is only abiding by current law by not trying to sell and ship those courier prohibited items to any one. You have to buy those items at a B&M store like a supermarket.

It must have been a relatively recent change by the couriers. It won't make a difference if you try to buy from another online retailer who uses Australia Post or Aramex. No retailer or person are allowed to ship those prohibited items through Australia Post or Aramex.

            • @bobbi084: There's heaps of items which show as "temporarily out of stock" on the Amazon Australia store. Because it actually is out of stock at the Amazon AU warehouse. I just the other day ordered three t-shirts that were shown as "temporarily out of stock" from seller Amazon AU but i was able to back order it. And some other shirts that was only currently available from 3rd party marketplace sellers at a higher price. That's just normal for Amazon. It's only how they operate.

And also it's no wonder that Aerosols can't be delivered. As those have been banned from being shipped through Australia Post. No one can have that delivered no matter who.

              https://auspost.com.au/sending/guidelines/dangerous-prohibit…

Aerosols are also prohibited through Aramex. No difference.

As in no seller can ship those out. If the item is on the prohibited list by the courier then Amazon can't ship it no matter which post code.

And only post codes 6799, 6798, 4875, 2899 and 2898 are specifically not eligible at all for delivery from Amazon Australia. Those appear to be all island post codes.

              "Delivery restrictions to remote areas

Items fulfilled by Amazon AU and Amazon Global Store products are not eligible for delivery to the following postcodes: 6799, 6798, 4875, 2899 and 2898."
